I did some fishing on the Rappahannock today.  I caught two small smallmouth and about 8 blue gill.

The problem is the water is hot.  It is WAY TOO HOT!  The water temperature is probably approaching 90 degrees.  This is not good.  It was hard to stay cool and it was pretty nasty fishing in these condition.  The water is clear and it is moving okay though.

I am going to have to find some cooler waters if I want to continue fishing.

I was fishing near Motts Run and I also hit the area just above the Route 1 bridge.  The bite is slow and not aggressive.

Thanks,  maybe I'll get a chance to try it in a week or 2.  If you're going then, let me know if you want company.

I will probably avoid the Rappahannock for a while.  It is just too hot and I am sure that the fish are stressed.  I think that I will change back to the Potomac or maybe west to the Shenandoah if I want to hit smallies.
