Can anybody please ID this fish for me? It was found in this very position on Friday morning in Fredericksburg, in a neighborhood about 1/2 mile from the Rappahannock. I've got a beer with your name on it if you can help me out. Thanks.

Charlie beat me to it...  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pimelodus_pictus.

That's what happens when you offer a free beer, immediate responses.

That was my guess as well -- here is by far the best catfish site I've ever used.  It's mostly geared toward hardcore catfish junkies, but there is quite a bit of taxonomy there.  I like the "common name" search.

I think your assessments are correct. Charlie, I owe you a beer. Assuming you're 21 of course.

I suppose a cat got a hold of it...hard to figure any other scenarios.

And of course, thank you. That would have ruined my memorial day weekend.

Yes, I have been over 21 for a while now =P
I have a scenario...
With all the rain we just had, someone decided they would let go of their pet and let it go in the curb rainwater. It kept swimming until all the water drained away. Poor fishy.
