Good Flies was a really cool book of his, for anyone out there that hasn't read it. A fair bit of attribution & brief discussions of the origins for a wide selection of patterns and some interesting back stories on them made for a very entertaining book. Most of all, he was able to not take himself too seriously while earnestly discussing his thoughts on flies -- aesthetically and practically --and it was a really fun read. I'd recommend it to anyone who tinkers at the vise, and is always modifying something. Even where you may disagree with him (he likes foam, I hate it; he hates bead heads, I'm quite okay with them) sitting with considered and crafted text (I wouldn't call them arguments) was very much worth the exercise in terms of considering my own assumptions.  It also didn't hurt that he & AK Best had a really long history and a ton of Best's thought on materials and techniques show up in the book as well.
