I had a great trip up to Erie this weekend. My first steelhead... in fact my first dozen or so. Fished with Joe Koss at Ultimate Angler on a private-ish section they have access to. The fish were taking streamers and standard-issue nymphs- princes, hair's ears etc. A mere six hours door to door- nothing at all for a jones in January. Here are the best of the pix.

Great pics! Just curious, how'd it workout fighting fish with the water being frozen in spots? Seems like the ice would be a nightmare on tippet. Tight lines.

The ice was definitely a factor. 3x fluoro helped- the steelies don't seem too leader shy and a couple of times the hooked ones got under sheets of ice on a run. I just put the rod tip down to the water and worked it out to my side until they re-emerged. Also, I think the cold water slows them down a bit. Overall, I din't have a tippit problem.
