It has been a weekend of chasing bass.  My location of choice was 4 Mile Run from the water treatment down to the small cut.  I tossed medium and small blue poppers along the shore down one side and up the other.  I was pleasantly surprised at how close to the shore some very large bass were hiding is really skinny water.  In the three days, I have caught around 50 or so bass. Gotta hit the run again before the weekend ends.

Hi Jim,

Are you roll casting out there?  I've never fished there but I seem to remember it being fairy deep in parts right by the outfall.  Also, are you having your best luck on the North or South bank?  Thanks for sharing this ---

Hit it yesterday evening with my brother at the bottom of the tide. Literally walked dry to within feet of the discharge. There were two other fly anglers on the water who gave me some good advice to walk upstream to where two of the power poles are literally in the middle of the river. We each got about four bass and several bluegill in about an hour and a half on poppers. This spot is the ultimate in urban fishing and so you gotta go with that in mind--it ain't pretty but its a bit of an adventure.

I've yet to catch anything but bluegill at 4mile run hitting it again today with a friend so hopefully my luck will change.

On a slightly different note, is there a path closer to the discharge where it is possible to wade out? I have waded in by the 'cut' several times. Last Monday, I found myself in a bit of a pickle when it got dark super fast. I could not see the bottom beyond the bleed off light from the soccer fields and feeling around with two pieces of my fly rod was not cutting it on account of the plush mud. It took me a good hour or so before I screwed up my courage and kinda made my own path through the super thick brambles on the bankment with the direction of some kindly soccer players sighting ahead for me.

Lane - I usually cut down where there's the sloped rock "wall." I'll show you when we meet up later, but obviously welcome any other input into access points.
