I've read that they stock Chopawasnic creek between Breckenridge Dam and Gray’s Reservoir. I understand that it's under regulations of the Quanticovmarine base. I'm not even sure they still stock it or anything really, there isn't much information online about it. Does anybody have experience of this section of stocked trout water?

Thanks

Josh

VA DGIF does stock the creek with trout, it shows up under the stocking reports as "Quantico MCB". Something important to remember is that you must get a base fishing license (in addition to the VA license and trout stamp), it is available from the sporting goods section in the Marine Corps Exchange on base (civilians can go there to buy the license but cannot shop there).
You can drive along about half the creek before hitting a locked gate where you have to hoof it the the rest of the way to the dam. There are stocking signs along the whole length but they do not actually stock below the first dammed pond about 1/2 mile up from the road. There are a few riffles in places but by and large it a series of slow pools. I suspect it gets fished out within 2 weeks of stocking. Not great water but it is close by.

It would be interesting to me to see a report for this stream.  It's one that I (and I'd guess most people on here) will never fish, but it would be neat to see what it's about.

I'm fairly sure this post from last year was about that water: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/tidal-potomac-fly-rodders/fuIltqL9hlU/1r2tbBd2GYsJ

Steve Moore posted a series of trip reports on his website, although they are a bit dated:
