Pink-tint polarized lenses

This is a long shot, but Orvis used to make affordable pink-tinted sunglasses for low-light fishing conditions. They were great glasses for that, but they were also great for general winter use and driving on snowy days. Orvis stopped making them a while back, and mine eventually got too scratched to wear.

I've been trying for a few years, but I can't find anything to replace that pair. I have a couple of pairs of pink-tinted non-polarized sunglasses designed for cycling (they're okay, not great for fishing), and I bought a couple of pairs of sunglasses that have "red mirror" lenses but turned out to be amber tinted (they're great for when I want to look like a d-bag in any light condition). I've scoured REI, Dick's, Bass Pro, and other shops looking for pink polarized sunglasses. So far I think the closest I found was a $250 pair of Smiths or something like that, but I'm looking for something in the $50-100 range.

I've run out of leads here, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? Does anyone still make such a lens?

Check out Fuse Lenses.  They sell sunglasses with pink lenses in your price range, or you can just buy replacement pink polarized lenses from them for an existing pair of glasses you already own.

That's a very cool business I had never heard of -- thanks. I will definitely use them to replace some scratched lenses.

But as far as I can tell they don't have any low-light pink-tinted sunglasses. They have a 'rose-gold' that's only 13% VLT, and they have a violet tint that's 26% VLT but is not polarized, and then they have the obligatory red-mirror-amber-tint.

I went through a similar search earlier this year and want able to find anything that was both low light (yellow or pink) and polarized other than the Smith chromapops.  I asked Brian Trow at Mossy about it and he said amber is going to be your best bet.  I’m still looking …. Smith often has an old frame styles on sale. You maybe able to get a high quality lens at an admittedly small discount.  

Please report back if you find anything.  We might be able to place a bulk order.

Thanks, Greg. If it was just for fishing, I'd be content with amber. But amber somehow doesn't work as well for me in winter conditions.

Have you looked at shooting glasses?  They come in yellow lenses for low light, and I presume you can find a polarized version.  Just another thought.

So for winter conditions maybe think ski goggles and sunglasses made by ski goggle companies. Oakley comes to mind. I used to wear their yellow lenses for cycling.  I think it’s the combo of pink/yellow for low light and polarized that makes this search a tough one.

You’re looking for the Ignitor lens from Smith.  They only make 2 models still with that lens.  I’d be happy to order them for you if you like.

 

I use a pair for upland hunting and sporting clays, and occasionally low light fishing.  I don’t use it for driving.

Here is the catalog from 1999. I’m still all about amber lenses for all conditions except low light. I wear Costa sunrise yellow lenses. Only glass for me.
