Smallmouth popper action is pretty intense, but this is something else -- Tigerfish leaps out of the water to devour a bird flying close to the surface: http://www.nature.com/news/video-fish-leaps-to-catch-birds-on-the-wing-1.14496. Are you suggesting that we catch Tigerfish by repeatedly false casting with some sort of wooly bugger in the hope that they take it in mid air?  Because if it works, I'm alright with that.  :)  I may need Snowhite's help figure out a sparrow fly.   I figure we will use feathers on it but that may be a little too obvious.
