St Pete/Tampa fly fishing guide....March/April

I'm renting a house in gulfport March 15-April 15, any great fly guides that anyone knows that cover that area?  I used a good guide last year to fish the little manatee river, but it was pretty far away for the amount of fish we caught.

Any pointers appreciated.

I fished with Captain Wayne Simmons twice several years ago. Not sure if he’s still operating,  it he was a great guy who put us on fish. He guides out of Clearwater, but I’m sure he can take you out on Lower Tampa Bay. 

If you’re looking for something a little different, take a day trip down to the Tamiami Trail. Size 6-8 EP minnows in white/gray, white/brown, and white. Snook, tarpon, largemouth, exotics and more. Fish anything with current that looks good. Really fun fishing that’s super accessible.

Hi Pete-

I fished with Cpt Brian Jill near Tampa/St. Pete and I cannot say enough good things about him! He was also featured in the TV show Fish or Die. I highly recommend him.

If you have not been, spend a rain day in the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg. The Hallucinogenic Toreador alone is worth the price of admission and an afternoon. Have fun, catch fish, post report…..please.
