MEET & GREET 6:30 PM, PRESENTATION 8:00 PM

BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE REGIONAL SERVICES CENTER

4805 EDGEMOORE LANE, BETHESDA MD

Our annual NCC-TU Shad Night meeting in Bethesda is just one week away! On February 7th, please join us for another fun evening devoted to our favorite local springtime fishery, the Potomac river shad run. Come early to socialize and stay for the featured presentation to learn more about the run and how to catch shad.

Returning this year are fly tiers Tom Mann, Dalton Terrell, Terry Cummings, Rob Snowhite and Alex Binsted. Alex and Dan Ward will once again bring Fletcher’s Boathouse to the meeting. We’ll also have Trent Jones from Orvis Bethesda and Rich Farino from District Angling ready to help you with your fly tackle questions. Shad master John Kuriawa will demonstrate spinning tackle for shad.

This year’s Silent Auction is shaping up to be better than ever, highlighted by an impressive collection of graphite, fiberglass and bamboo fly rods donated by longtime board member Lynn Scholz. A Potomac fishing trip with TU President and CEO Chris Wood is once again offered, as well as a North Branch trout outing with highly regarded guide Harold Harsh. Beer lovers will want to check out a thirst quenching offering from DC Brau.

Our featured presentation will include an update on last year’s amazing American shad run from biologist Jim Cummins, and Fletcher’s Cove news from our Vice President and Shad Report author, Mark Binsted. Mark will then moderate a panel discussion on fishing for shad with fly and spinning gear, joined by the aforementioned experts Dalton, Trent, John and Alex.

Don’t miss our most popular meeting of the year. Activities begin at 6:30 and the presentation is scheduled for 8:00. The meeting location in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center is familiar to most and offers indoor parking. Follow the many signs to our room. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday!
