Colonial Beach

Has anyone fished the Colonial Beach area on the Potomac?  Heading out there this weekend with a friend and am looking for some info. Thanks in advance

Brian Hepler here…

I have fishing friends and relatives in the Cobb Island area - which is  just south  of Colonial Beach - on the Maryland side of the Potomac. 

I have fly-fished the Colonial Beach and surrounding areas quite a bit over the years.

Below is a pic of me, with a nice fall bass that I was able to tease off of an old oyster bar, in about 15 to 20 feet of water.

Brian, 

Nice work! That is an amazing fish. What line were you throwing when targeting fish in 15-20 feet? I have a tough time getting my fly down to those depths, even when using a tungsten tip. 

Slightly off topic, any recommendations for an inshore light tackle/fly captain in the chincoteague area? Taking a family vacation down that way in late September and would love to set something up. Thank you in advance!
