Yesterday my good friend, Len, and I had the privilege of going on a
guided float on the upper Potomac with Duncan McGrath of Riverfish
Angling (http://www.riverfishangling.com). We put in at Swain's Lock
and took out at Riverbend park.

Duncan is incredible at handling his raft during spring's high water
conditions and a true expert on smallmouth bass feeding patterns.
Thanks to this expertise, I caught my largest smallie ever on the
fly... 20" 4lbs+ on a large green/yellow/white clouser. Len spin
fished with an olive tube all day and netted over 10 fish ranging from
17-20".

Duncan's passion for upper Potomac smallies brings him back her for
30-35 days each spring. There is a reason that most of those days are
booked every year.
I was truly fortunate to be able to finally get on his calendar this year.

If you have an opportunity to go out with Duncan, I encourage it.

Thank you Brad Gentner for the recommendation!
