South River

I had a fabulous day today on the South. My guide Reid from the South River Fly Shop put me on to some fat, healthy rainbows (15-18"). Beautiful day. Nice water. I started out nymphing. When we started seeing rises I was anxious to try some dries. Success! Then switched to streamers. More trout caught. Total 8 landed. 3 broken off. Countless bumps and missed sets.

Throw in a white sucker and that was my day.

Perfect way to spend a Saturday after three 50-60 hour work weeks.

Reid was awesome. Great teacher. Patient. Really knows the river.

I will definitely go back.

Thanks for the report! Sounds like you had a great trip. I fished the South River a bit in college, and would love to get back out there one of these days. You can apparently float it, but have to watch to be sure the flows are high enough.
