First the fish report: didn't catch anything or have any bites. Fished the incoming tide for a bit at the Ohio bridge, walked around a bit as well but no bites.

I had bought my license that morning and didn't have printer at home, so I had it on my phone. When I was in front of the Jefferson Memorial a cop asked for my license. I told him I only had it on my phone,  he was nice and let it slide, but told me I should print it out next time. I then continued back to the Ohio Bridge. There were two people fishing bait on the other side, and I saw another cop start talking to them, not sure what the deal was but soon there were four cops talking to them. Think they were issued a citation. After they were done with that, two of those cops came over and checked my license.

It was great to see them out in force checking licenses, but just a heads up to make sure that you have your license printed out and with you!

Hope the weather stays warm!

Gotta say I really don't understand cops not accepting an image of your license on your phone.  Is there a reason why that make a difference?  Much easier to fake a printed license than a digital copy, if you consider resolution of phone screens compared to that of most printers.  Seems like sometimes officers just want to be a jerk and hassle someone who is obviously trying to follow the rules.

I think the only reason they'd give you a hard time would be a lack of familiarity with modern technology.  I can't see a practical reason why it wouldn't be just as acceptable as presenting a printed piece of paper.

It would be nice if they'd do some enforcement up along the river in the Chain Bridge area, esp. amongst the snaggers and dip netters.

It would be nice if they would accept a digital license. I wonder who the right person would be to talk to about getting that changed. Anyone on here have a connection at the Department of Environment?  It was wonderful though seeing a show of force early in the season. Hopefully they will keep it up and expand to Chain Bridge area.

I don't think DDOE has much to do with enforcement of fishing regs -- I understand from Rob that it's mostly NPS??

It's all federal. They want tangible licenses at chain bridge too.

In addition the Feds want your license displayed on you and visible from a distance.
