Watching football and saw fly fishing featured in a new commercial from Southwest Airlines. What do y'all think?

I'm not a great caster myself but that loop looks not quite right....

Cheers,

I noticed that too. The first loop looks upside down or something.

I saw it, said to wife, why do they put bad casters on commercials like this.

It always makes me crazy when I see inaccurate fishing on TV. There is a heart medication ad with a grandfather and his son and grandson and he's using a spinning rod with a fly reel on it. Every time I see it I start shouting at the TV. Also in the movie "super troopers" there's a scene at the beginning with the cop coming off the water in a fly fishing vest and he's carrying a spinning rod with a fly reel on it. OK, rant over...

There was also an episode of Downton Abbey where one of the characters had not clue what he was doing with what appeared to be a Spey rod.

My favorite part is the baitcasting reel sound effects during the first cast. But in trying to find a video online of this commercial, I found a blog about it here (yeah, commercial link but whatever...) with the following quote:
"FUN SWAfact: The actor in the current television spot and shown in the photo here is a true fly fisherman. He spent all day standing in the river and probably cast his line more than 200 times to capture just the right shot. We had another professional fly fisherman on-set who was often crouching in the water right next to him, off camera, coaching every cast to make it look as authentic as possible. We think he looks great! Who’s hungry for trout?"

Looking around some more, I think this reflector/shade (?) may be part of the cause of the upside down loop and some sloppiness:

I'll just have to take solace in the fact that no one is filming my cast with such high quality cameras.

First time I saw this commercial (which, if I recall, is for Symbicort), I was mildly annoyed at the inaccuracy, but the second time I watched more closely and I realized that they are center pinning and not fly fishing and that the rig with the fly line and the bobber and the spin-looking rod are all correct for the set up. So, the more you know...
