I was swinging clousers yesterday near chain bridge with no luck. The river is a little off from the rains.  Welcome to the area.

You're gonna have a rough introduction to the river this weekend with this storm coming in.  Looking out my window, the river is already really high and cloudy.

I have done well in the tidal basin when the water is lousy elsewhere. Stripers are usually active on the incoming tide right inside the East Basin Drive.  High tide is 9pm. Depending on rainfall, the edges might flood, which would open up some fun bass/catfish/carp action.

Thanks for the helpful comments.  Maybe next weekend the weather will cooperate.

Well now I feel like an alarmist... rains didn't seem to materialize after Friday, and what we did get didn't really push the river too high.

Went down to the tidal basin on Saturday around noon (outgoing tide, not the best time) and saw a lot of surface activity, but mostly catfish or gar surfacing, not much eating.  A three foot snakehead did come up being my fly, sip air, then submerge, that was pretty exciting.

Managed a good striper on a chart clouser.

Well, you did better than I did on the incoming tide on Saturday night (7:45-9PM). I managed one joke of a LMB and saw nothing on the surface but a couple of huge mayflies.
