I'm headed down to Virginia Beach this weekend with the wife and our kayaks. We'll be carving out one day to fish from our yaks and I'm hoping for some intel on where we might be able to do some inshore fishing for redfish. I'm open to other saltware inshore options (stripers etc.), but we love going down to SC for redfish so I'm hoping we can recreate the experience as I've been told VA beach is about as far north as they come.
I'll be using a 9wt and she'll probably have a spinning rod. We're willing to drive 30-45 minutes, maybe an hour to get to a good spot. Anyone have experience fishing for reds down there? We don't want to spend money on a guide so it'll be DIY.
Thanks,
David

If you want to cross the Bay Bridge Tunnel, I've fished for them around Fisherman's Island. In the surf around the island is a fairly popular spot for Reds. I've seen plenty of kayaks in the area but I'm not sure where they are launching from. I have always fished from a boat out of Kiptopeake.
