Would any of you make any recommendation specifically for a couple of beginners to try trout fishing in VA?  I prefer wading vs. canoe, and don't care so much about the potential size of fish....just mostly a place with a decent number of fish that we could at least attempt to catch.  We've only fished Missouri trout parks using spinning tackle in the past -- never fly gear.

I used the search function and found Paul's excellent email about local day-trip spots and was considering Andy Guest S.P. or Passage Creek like he mentioned, but I figured it couldn't hurt to throw the question out there.  I appreciate the advice many of you have shared -- it has helped make the few trips we've taken more fun and less chaotic ;).

Thanks,

Gene

Gene,

There are tons of fish at Andy Guest State Park, but no trout. Having said that, it might be a good place to work on casting. There are lots of panfish and the occasional smallmouth.
