For the past several years John Bilotta would send out an email asking people who enjoy using Spey rods if they would be interested in a trip to Alaska for large rainbows. Up until this year I was unable to go and missed out on some fantastic fishing. That all changed in June when I was lucky enough to be able to retire and could attend. The fishing didn’t disappoint and neither did the bear watching. We had an unbelievable trip and would recommend it to anyone. John B, Tom G, and Regan B and myself all had a great time fishing. For me it was a trip I have been wanting to do for years and am grateful to be in the company of such good fishermen and friends. Attached a few fish and bear porn pics.

Wow. That is unbelievable. Life goals!

How did you guys handle the bears? I was just in Idaho and was only in grizzly country for a short time with my wife but I was still pretty freaked out. I didn’t grow up with any predators in northeast Ohio!

Hi, the bears were so locked in on eating salmon that we just got out of there way and they would just pass by. The guides carried bear spray but never felt like we needed it. We did have a bear in our fishing camp one evening and the owner scared him off with 3 shots in the air.

Must have been very tiresome to catch fish on nearly every cast...

...not.

I was exhausted at the end of the week. I need a vacation afterwards.

Well done boys. With that crew, the fish stood no chance!
