Any recommendations for Memphis TN diy fishing? Heading there next week for work. Thanks

Don't have any advice to give on fishing, but make a visit to Cozy Corner if you're looking for some BBQ - one of the best pork sandwiches in town and their banana pudding is the most delicious I've ever had.

Lots of good fishing down south a little bit in Arkansas. I know a guide down there but you'd need some time.

If you have time to drive 3 hours, you can do the Eleven Point River in Missouri, or the Little Red or Buffalo in Arkansas. Don't know about the in-town options, would guess you're looking at creeks and ponds. Also, you can go to the new Bass Pro Shop at the old Pyramid Arena.

I'm echoing what James and Andrew are laying down. Alternate fishing activities will be more productive than actual fishing this time of year. The new BPS at the pyramid is unbelievable. Cozy Corner BBQ is pretty damn hard to beat for BBQ as are Rendevousz dry ribs and a Ghost Island Golden Ale to wash it down. Gus' Fried Chicken and Qwik Check are also must-eat at destinations.

As far as urban fishing is concerned and it being August...well...you've got a couple options - Galloway Golf Course off of Poplar has a few water hazards that play home to some rowdy largemouth and carp...only issue is that you'll have to fish at night. It's about 15-20minutes from downtown. It's a safe area so there's nothing to worry about crime-wise. The other option would be to fish the ponds on Mudd Island which are off of Harbor Place Dr - about 3 minutes from the BPS. When I was in school there, the rule was strictly catch and release but I believe that's changed in recent years and no fishing is permitted. Those ponds play home to some nice largemouth, panfish, and some GIANT grass carp that'll smoke a well-presented white boogle or small popper. If you've got the ability to drive to fish somewhere, I'd recommend the Red River and Spring River both in Arkasas in that order.

Stay fly...and definitely enjoy the eats.

Rem
