I will be at Fletchers on Saturday from about 8:30-10:30 if anyone wants to get some casting practice in. For those of you who haven't been out there lately, Hurricane Sandy cleared some of the debris on the little beach we use and we have a picnic table down at the water.

It looks like we will have several instructors available to work individually with people.

For single handed casters we will review the basic casting stroke and the roll cast. If you have questions on your roll cast, let me know. It is a foundation cast for single and two-handed casting.
We can also work with others on their double haul.

Two handed folks, I will have a couple of rods set up with skagit lines and we will review waterborne anchor casts.

Bring, coffee, waders, sunglasses, and pick up a new DC license. The water is cold, but it is very nice out there this time of year.

And as always, if you have something specific you are working on, or don't understand, or are preparing for a trip, let us know.

All the best,

John

Looking forward to it John.  I'll be there to help out - single or double hand.  I'll have to get to the shop by 10AM though.  See you all there!

Thanks for doing this guys! I've been planning on getting out to one of these for a year now, and I'll finally be able to make it this Saturday - really interested in trying out a double hander.

Thanks for all those that helped my daughters (and me) on Saturday.  We had a great time.  I've been trying to make it to one of these since I requested a move from Sunday mornings to Saturday mornings last summer and this was the first that didn't conflict with other family activities.  Thanks for accomodating that request, also.

Jeff,
Glad you guys came and had fun. We will  probably try and do another in late Feb.

Daughter was down with an ear infection - we're just back up and running now - it's a new years resolution to get out there for me this year. NEW YEAR - NEW CASTS!

I really hope I can make it next time, my weekends have been crazy recently.  This sounds like such a helpful session.

Anyone who can help me with a more controlled cast gets an award of dozens of flies!  You just have to collect them from various trees and bushes around the district...

Probably the end of Feb.
