So i recently updated the the latest update on ICUE4 4.24.193 and when entering sleep mode or going on standby, the ICUE sdk for wallpaper engine decides to break. Restarting wallpaper engine dosnt fix the issue, the only way is to restart your pc. (Have got a plugin delay of 10sec so it dosnt mess up when loading ICUE)
I'm having this same issue too. When I booted up my pc 2 days ago it worked but then I login today and had the same issue as you I even tried updating and I still can't get my lights to work with wallpaper engine.
Hello, I have 3 builds here that do the same thing. If you lock the PC, unlocking it will no longer load the LED colour scheme from Wallpaper Engine. I've made a quick post about it as well over at the steam forums.
With the current build of iCUE 4.24.193 I have Wallpaper Engine integration working without issue. Make sure you have enabled the option in the Wallpaper Engine Plugins settings, also make sure that it is enabled in the iCUE settings as well, and restart Wallpaper Engine. If it is still not working follow the instructions below to perform a clean install/uninstall of the iCUE 4 software.
Close Wallpaper Engine... Go to the iCUE software Settings, Restart iCUE Service, close iCUE, and then Restart iCUE. Also if you have Armoury Crate installed, open the update center and make sure it and the modules for your Asus products are fully updated then restart your system. Asus pushed a fairly big update out for Armoury Crate towards the end of last month and if it needs those updates you can notice issues with RGB on DRAM not working correctly.
Ok i was just looking for this problem and i found this. I opened wallpaper engine->Settings->Plugins->choose settings on icue and chroma SDK-> choose your source monitor. mine worked like this. I hope this one works for yall.
Greetings, at dawn I updated malwarebytes to version 4.1.2 it asked me to restart to complete the update and now it turns out that the steam application called wallpaper engine is malware (Malware.AI.963457395), so I got ready to check it for viruses total in which it indicates that the file is clean and malwarebytes I take it as a false positive, for now I have to create the exception in the entire application folder since it is my turn to restart the device every time I need to restore and exclude a program.
@fug I have made an open source project to showcase how you can make your own animated wallpaper engine in UE4: Live Animated 3D Desktop Wallpaper Maker [OPEN SOURCE] - Released Projects - Unreal Engine Forums
Wallpaper Engine is an application for Windows with a companion app on Android[3] which allows users to use and create animated and interactive wallpapers, similar to the defunct Windows DreamScene. Wallpapers are shared through the Steam Workshop functionality as user-created downloadable content. It features its own rendering engine and provides a wallpaper editor, allowing for the creation of 2D and 3D wallpapers, including a particle system editor and a fork of JavaScript called SceneScript for additional wallpaper logic. It also supports using video files, audio files, webpages and some 3D applications as wallpapers.[4]
A proposal outlining the general idea of the software was added to Steam Greenlight in December 2015.[1] The application was subsequently released as a paid product on Steam in October 2016 as an early access title. After three years of development, the software left its early access stage in November 2018.[5]In August 2019, Wallpaper Engine was announced to be one of the release titles for Steam China.[6]
In late November of 2021, the team released version 2.0 of Wallpaper Engine. This update brought a new logo, a large set of additional features, support for Windows 11, and a free android release that interfaces with the desktop version.[7]
Despite not being a game, Wallpaper Engine is one of the most used apps on Steam, being located in Steam's Top 25 played games in July 2019[8] and Top 10 played games in November 2021.[9] Users in China use it to share pornographic videos.[10]
Wallpaper Engine has entrenched itself as a staple of PC gaming, with easy support for multiple monitors, ultra-wide aspect ratios and a broad assortment of workshop content developed by the userbase on Steam. Its estimated tens of millions of total users blow competitors, like the open source Lively Wallpaper, out of the water.
For people who don't want to manage both their Windows desktop settings and the wallpapers in the app, getting it to start automatically is a nice quality-of-life feature. Here's how to configure it to start when you boot up your machine, alongside a few other timesavers.
For startup settings, you'll find them under the settings wheel in the top right. It'll pop open a sub-window, and you're looking for the general settings tab within that.
As long as you're in this area of the settings, it may be worth configuring the performance settings for a first-time user: If audio playback is enabled, it's very easy to accidentally scare yourself with a loud wallpaper. After that, the top section of the general settings tab is focused on startup options.
It's important to also check the option below Start With Windows, labelled 'protect against crashes'. This ensures that if either your system or the program encounters any severe errors, the wallpaper engine will disable automatic startup temporarily. If you're using an especially intensive wallpaper that melts a graphics card or eats an entire RAM stick, this will let you safely open the app up and disable the culprit.
You don't need administrative permissions to enable it on startup but if you use the optional high-priority mode this does require admin rights. It'll also activate the app regardless of who is logging into the computer so be careful about what wallpapers you have enabled on a shared machine.
Further down on the same general settings menu, you'll find other useful options that can also be activated on startup. The override lock screen tool allows you to replace the Windows login screen with your new wallpapers but has a significant chance of clashing with Windows and antiviral software.
Screensavers have fewer security concerns compared to the lock screen. Setting up Wallpaper Engine to control your screensavers is a safer alternative to modifying your lock screen.
Opening Windows Task Manager with ctrl-shift-esc and clicking more details should reveal a tab labelled Startup. Wallpaper Engine should now be listed as one of these startup applications. It might be listed under a different application name, such as "wallpaper32".
As long as you're here, it may also be worth examining what other startup apps you have enabled and, if any, can be safely disabled. Some especially pesky apps either don't have or will hide their toggle to disable them on startup, making it easier to handle them through this menu.
If you have enabled it in high-priority mode, Wallpaper Engine will not appear on this list of startup applications. This is because the high-priority mode uses an alternative route and will activate before other programs on the startup list. The best way to check that it's working in high-priority mode is to simply reboot your machine and confirm that it opens automatically. If there are any startup issues along the way, disable high-priority mode.
