Hi everyone,
How are you all doing?
We’re busy planning some more online TICTeC gatherings to learn from fellow civic and pro-democracy tech organisations - we’ll share more soon!
We’ve heard from TICTeC community members that they’d like to discuss affordable/low-resource tech innovations that fellow democratic transparency organisations are using, which they may learn from.
Therefore, we’d like to host an online gathering to discuss this, and we’re wondering if anyone here would like to share their work.
Is there anything you’re doing that you think is technically innovative, or where you learned interesting lessons you'd like to talk though and share?
If so, we’d love to hear about it! Either during the online gathering, or via a one-to-one conversation with either me or my colleague Alex.
We also want to include as many approaches as possible in our landscape report on democracy technology, which we’ll publish at the end of the year.
As an example of what we mean, in an upcoming meeting Alex from mySociety will share how he’s using Datasette for making democratic datasets easier to explore online, and Duckdb and Parquet for making bulk data more portable and easier to analyse.
Feel free to respond directly to this email thread, or email me directly :)
Thanks a lot,
Gemma.
