Centre LSD Kicks off Regional Validation of Pioneering Study on CDAs in Nigeria
The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) shall kick-off February 2, 2023, the regional validation exercise of findings of its groundbreaking study on the efficacy of Community Development Agreements (CDAs)
in Nigeria's mining communities beginning with mining stakeholders from the northeast/northwest geo-political zones in Kano, the Kano State capital.
The study conducted across six states in each geopolitical zone of the country in 2022, including Taraba (northeast), Kebbi (northwest), Kogi (North Central), Ekiti (Southwest), Edo (Southsouth), and Ebonyi (Southeast), was specifically
to evaluate the effectiveness of CDAs as a mechanism for transferring social and economic benefits from mining companies to host communities in Nigeria.
A statement by Mr. Vincent Dania, Programme Co-ordinator at Centre LSD said, the validation exercise which is a significant milestone in the pursuit of effective community development policies in Nigeria's mining sector and a step
towards advancing human-centered development in the country, will also offer platform for stakeholders to share experiences, engage in productive dialogue, and make recommendations where necessary to improving the CDA regime in the country.
The validation of this study marks another important chapter in Centre LSD's mission to drive positive change in Nigeria as a leading national NGO and think tank, that works to empower citizens and transform society through research,
capacity building, advocacy, and campaigns built on the principles of catalytic partnerships and a rights-based approach to programming.
