I'm very pleased to report that Ticonderoga Publications has
announced a definitive "best of Sean Williams" collection that will
be coming out in March this year.
MAGIC DIRT will be a splendiferously hefty tome covering everything
of note from 1992's WOTF prize-winning "Ghosts of the Fall" all the
way to 2007's "The Seventh Letter". If it's won or been nominated
for the Ditmar, Aurealis or Seiun Awards, it's probably in here. If
it's been recommended by Locus or any of the various Year's Bests out
there, likewise. Some of the stories have been reprinted before, but
many of them haven't. One has never been on paper at all. Covering
science fiction, space opera, fantasy, horror, and mainstream, with
story notes and an introduction, this works out at excellent value
for money for the discerning reader. :-)
It also represents a major milestone for me. At the rate I'm writing
short stories, it'll take me a decade or more to fill another
collection, so I'm very grateful to the mighty Russell B Farr for
gathering all these stories into one stylish place, where I can be
especially proud of them.
