Afterremoving the fonts and keyboard layout, I opened the preference pane, then i checked the box from the input menu, then i opened the MS Word to see if the fonts and layouts are removed properly or not, i thought i won't be able to type, but i was wondering that what files i removed.

Actually I was facing trouble in typing the Conjunct bangla words since the installations, conjunct words not working as per the typing guide says. That's why i tried to remove it and install again. Now i am confused.

Another trouble i have been facing, if the font is installed first and the keyboard last or the reverse, the first one is just gone after installing the last one. In fact, the spotlight couldn't find the copy of it except the Dot DMG file, the search includes the installed fonts as well, but no sign of it. I checked the font book, i found it there, validate it, shown alright, but no showing on the spotlight list.

After installing the OO 4.01, i was able to type, but with lots of trouble, seems the keyboard and font not working properly, or it is not compatible, or the installation is not done by me properly.....i have downloaded another old font from the bangla ankur site- the name of the font is SolaimanLipi-8-Jan-2011.ttf

Here is my machine using Solaimanlipi and Text Edit. Please try to duplicate this on yours, including the input source you see at the top right of the screen and in Keyboard Viewer. Email me a photo of what yours looks like (tom at bluesky dot org).

Tab Line means- the left side of the keyboard there are shift key, caps lock, and tab, each line contains the alphabets. i can't type the conjunct word using the shift line and tab line by pressing the dead key.

I think you should report this misplacement as a bug. Attaching a screenshot which clearly shows where the regular space is too wide would be useful as well.

The problem seems to be that for some reason the width of characters is calculated wrong, sometimes negative, sometimes far too much, you can notice the cursor jumping around when you continuously press right arrow or left arrow.

@oweng SutonnyMJ is a ANSI font (I think) not Unicode, recently found out the only font that works great in LibreOffice (Writing with iBus>Bengali-Avro Phonetic) is AdorshoLipi (Unicode font).But even the popular Unicode font Kalpurush does not work properly in LibreOffice.

EDIT: Thanks for your feedback. Do you encounter the same problem using iBus>Bengali-Avro Phonetic with other word processing software or only LO? That may help narrow down if it is an LO problem or something related to the keyboard facility being used. If the Unicode fonts they provide do not work, that would tend to indicate that it is an LO problem (IMO). The BiDi characters appear to be getting mis-interpreted.

Here is a text file (named with ODT extension) listing the output from the unicode linux command. It seems like a valid stream from my limited understanding. I also cannot see any byte order mark (BOM) in the octal output from the od -c content.xml linux command. Even though the Bangla contains a lot of modifying vowel signs, it should display OK.

I can confirm that LibreOffice 4 has problem in rendering Bangla text. The inter word spaces are garbled. Sometimes the spaces are too wide, sometimes the spaces are gobbled. When the same document is opened in LibreOffice 3, the problem disappears. I have tested with SolaimanLipi font.

It happens every time a major release of Firefox comes out. In the FF4 RC, the display of unicode Bangla (A major language of Bangladesh and India) fonts is broken. I am attaching a screenshot composite of the same text in three different browsers. works in Chrome 10 and IE8, but not in FF4 RC. Even the IETab 2 plugin inside FF4RC is able to display the text properly, but not FF4RC. Please help.

Thank you for your reply, Bangla_Sheyal. Unfortunately, I don't think your solution matches my specific issue. I am a long time user of Avro keyboard. Setting the font to Siyam Rupali would help the display of Bangla font everywhere else EXCEPT inside a text box, such as the one you get when composing an email - which is what my screenshot shows.

Go to firefox option..then proceed to content>font and colour>advance...then select "bengali" in font for section..then you can see the 2 default fonts for bengali..just change these 2 fonts into "Adorsholipi"...nothing more to change...select ok and quit..now your prob is solved...:p:p

This is the way I got rid of the problem, but using Kalpurush instead of the default font (following user sumobd's recommendations). I wonder: is Adorsholipi a Unicode-compliant font? Otherwise, it would create problems.

I'm writing Unicode Bangla font in Book_Name_Bn column and oracle apex interactive report show bangla font, but when i wanna download pdf format report then bangla font doesn't show. what's the problem?

Unfortunately, the result was not successful. "Benalgi Sign Anusvara" (U+0982) does not appear. Even the existing Bengali letter is damaged by adding the lines. Comparatively, it presents a black triangle (U+0982) without any problem. Could you give me some advice to modify this file to get those three letters? Many thanks in advance!

newunicodechar seems to cause the problem you report. Try avoiding to use it.With respect to Anji, it works only with some fonts. Whatever reason it be, it works with Noto Serif Bengali ( -beng), but not Akaash.

Enter unicode Bangla text in the first form bellow and click on convert to Bijoy button to convert to bijoy encoding.

Enter Bijoy encoded text in the second form bellow and click on convert to Unicode button to convert to Unicode encoding. It can convert Unicode + Bijoy mixed text properly.

Bijoy encoding works on ANSI encoding. It works based on font substitute. For this reason, to show bangla characters properly, ANSI compliant bangla font should be used. Rich text editor may support this, but simple text editor can't handle mixed character and so it can't be used as universally unique text. same text may represent different text for different font selection. Additionally, ANSI encoding support only 256 characters to represent in text.

Unicode is universal code for characters. It can handle all character set of all human language. all characters are unique for all font. To show bangla characters properly, Unicode compliant bangla font should be used. All latest operating system has built-in Bangla font support. So anyone can read Unicode bangla text on every device without installing appropriate font. Simple text editor can show mixed language font correctly.

You already use transparent mode for compound letters. So combining one on top of the other should be easy. Try with zero distance, or maybe negative distance (width of the previous symbol).

Meaning reduce distance by width of previous symbol.

I don't dare to give an example or code snippet, as I make too many errors if I don't test.

But the idea I have is, use a (separate) distance adjust table for the symbols to combine, and explicitly test for the combine symbol, if this symbol is only used for this.

I don't understand your question. I will take a look at the issue you raised to try to understand. But I am no fonts expert in any way. I assumed the symbols in question are really trigrams, "ব+্+দ", and the '+্+' is one unicode character that changes the look of the combination of the other symbols on both sides, different to the look when the symbols would be directly adjacent. And I assumed the '+্+' is not used separate and alone normally.

Or you create a table for trigrams, containing only the characters to combine with distance adjustment, and search through it whenever you encounter a '+্+'. In this case you draw the symbol for '+্+' if the adjacent characters are not found in the table.

But In Bengali letter there are some compound letter like " ব্দ " which formed from "ব+্+দ" , and letter "ম্ম" is formed "ম+্+ম" . If this type of compound letter work then I can complete my main project perfectly.

At first sight, the first case looked like it can be done by combining the two glyphs, using distance adjust. But in fact the wanted symbol needs a different glyph. For the second case this is more obvious. My coding attempt so far failed, and will never produce the desired result anyway.
