I liked using the Fitbit app on my computer but I now know that the app developers have removed it. It was always nicer on bigger screen and helped to reset it when my phone wouldn't connect. Now my phone won't pair and my Fitbit watch is useless. Why discontinue this service. Not happy at all. W Kennedy

Login to the Fitbit App on the phone and click profile photo and then "+ Set up a Device" and make sure the watch gets installed on the phone. This will make the Bluetooth pair and link so that you can use it.
The only reason I knew it was discontinued is because it simply failed to log-in on Monday. Tried to find an update on the Microsoft store, saw it was gone, and after a little more searching found out that support for the Windows app had been stopped last October. They just getting around to pulling the log-in permissions until now?
Strange as it may seem to some, there are people without cell phones. I'm one of them. So the phone app is useless to me and so is the watch now, since I have no way of seeing a record of my exercise, calories burned, or my sleep patterns. I have sleep apnea and the sleep tracking feature was one of the things I used most.
I agree completely. I thought my account and password on my pc was wrong. So I deleted the Fitbit app from PC only to learn the app was no longer in the App store of Windows 10. Then my watch wouldn't connect, so I deleted and reinstalled the Fitbit app. Now no matter going through all the steps, my phone won't connect. Phone is now incompatible. If this happened before, my PC could get the phone app working again on my phone. Now the watch is just a pedometer and can't use it for anything else or change any settings, which are App driven from phone.. Bad move by Fitbit, also without any prior notice. I won't be buying another and the watches are not cheap.
Fitbit Developers didn't take into account, the people who have incompatible watches and dependent on their PC for viewing and setting changes. I'm nowhere now. Never again to go Fitbit, I'm going to put it to sleep.
@WKennedy If you are using an older model phone that can't upgrade to Android 9, then you need to know that Google no longer supports Android 8 and Google no longer releases security updates. Similar changes happen with iPhones and Apple support.
If you use Microsoft Edge as your browser, you can set up the Fitbit website as an "app." It's essentially the same as the Fitbit Website, but you can pin it to your taskbar, and go right to it. Log in, and go to the dashboard. Works like the App did. -web-apps-new-chromium-edge-windows-10/
That's a great idea, i know you have given me the site, but when i visit it, I find more questions than answers of which way to go about it. I suppose I'm nervous about picking the wrong path, It looks possible but I might need a step by step guide to progress or simplify the correct steps to Fitbit.
@Nefarian Correct. Fitbit announced that it ending all support for the Fitbit App for Windows 10 in August or maybe early September. It was turned off on October 13. You must use a compatible Android/Apple smartphone/tablet.
Me too! The fitbit app on adndroid leaves a lot to be desired and I wouldn't normally choose to use it at all. It's so much easier to view everything on a proper screen with the PC. I've used the app for years and it's one of the main reasons I've not switched to Garmin - looks like I will be now.
I found my old windows device still had the windows app on it, and is still logged in to my fitbit account. I am able to sync my fitbit with this app and it works just fine. This shows that it's just the login process that no longer works on the windows app, the rest of the app itself still works fine. So if you're curently using the windows app do not log out!
I agree, this is horrible. So I can log-into my fitbit account through the website on my PC yet I am blocked from logging in to the program to sync my device unless I use a mobile device, makes absolutely no sense.
@IrmgardGater As previously written, the Fitbit app for Windows 10 was deactivated last year. You have a web dashboard on fitbit.com. But you can't sync with a computer at all. You need a compatible phone or tablet. If you just bought a new Fitbit, then you should think about returning it. Your tech is no longer compatible.
Not everyone has a smart phone, the fact there is no option for a windows 10 or 11 app or something is completely absurd. MIssing a huge customer base by excluding those who don't always have a smart phone with them.
Hello @colliemom and welcome to the Community. I'm sorry, but you can't sync with Windows 11. The Inspire HR was one of the last Fitbits designed to set up and sync with the Fitbit app for Windows 10. All of the current devices are designed for compatible Android and Apple phones and tablets. Fitbit has been moving away from computer syncing for some time now. To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans to sync with Windows 11.
What a shame that the decision is to move away from computer syncing is in the works. It seems to isolate individuals who prefer computers. With that said @colliemom I hope you have a mobile device you can connect to your Inspire HR.
Thank you everyone for your answers and help. I was able to set up and sync on my Ipad. I tried my Kindle first and still working on that but Ipad has my updated info for the day. But can't find my badges or any history, will keep looking. When your laptop just dies and you have to start over it is a pain!
Thank you so much for your suggestions and concern....I did find all my history and badges on my Ipad now. Just needed to look a little further for info. Ipad is all set, the kindle is updating from Ipad and now working on the new laptop. My inspire HR wants to do an update but waiting...don't need another issue today:-)
@colliemom Even though you can't sync with your new laptop, you should still be able to see your main tiles on your web dashboard at fitbit.com -- if you want the larger screen. You won't get all of the information that is available on the mobile app. Neither the web dashboard nor the Fitbit App for Windows 10 give you your sleep score -- a feature that was released in 2019. The Health Metrics are also only on the mobile app. The Inspire HR provides some, but not all of the Health Metrics. The Inspire HR was one of the last Fitbits to award active minutes. All current Fitbits award active zone minutes. Zone minutes aren't on the web dashboard.
I don't think there is an app for Windows 7. You'll need to download and install the fitbit connect software from www.fitbit.com/setup and use the wireless dongle that came with the fitbit. On the setup page make sure you click "PC" before clicking on download.
Recently found since just before the holidays that the "PC" version that you can download no longer works with Windows 7 OS. The only way I found to sync my device was to download an "App" to my Android phone.
I just this moment downloaded the Windows app from the link fitbit.com/setup and it does install. However, when I begin the process to sync and attach USB cable and plug it all in I hit "next" and get an instruction, "insert dongle." What dongle? What is a dongle? All I got is a USB charge/connect cable. At the step where it shows somebody inserting something that looks like it could maybe fit a USB plug there is no button "next" to get past that. The only option is to close the app and try again until you finally get the message that it just isn't going to work.
I think it is up to Fitbit to make it work with Windows 7 because that is the advertising claim. My state has a law of implied merchantability which states that every product must live up to the manufacturers or seller's advertising claims or the seller is required to issue a full refund.
Come on Fitbit, provide us with a Windows 7 program that works, and provide it on your corporate website, not on some third party server that might be in China or for that matter any country in the world.
Perhaps so but it annoys the hell out of me. Back when I first researched Fitbit I recall that they said it was Windows 7 compatible. My memory is not perfect, perhaps I'm wrong. It's annoying that now I have to purchase yet another item to make my new Fitbit Alta HR work. I already had to buy a replacement band because the plastic band is so ...
I notice Amazon stock is about $1,200 right now. I'm not going to bother checking Fitbit's stock. Sure Fitbit appears it will improve my health, but it's the little details that Fitbit doesn't cover, while Amazon covers everything upwards, downwards, inside out and 7 ways from Sunday. That's a difference between a good corporation and an unbelievable fantastic corporation.
And from the posts above, it used to work with Windows 7. It worked and then Fitbit broke it, and they didn't even care enough to go back and fix what they broke. That is an indication of how much they care about their customers. Think about it. (And thanks for the reply.)
BTW, I'm thinking the dongle is a USB to Bluetooth adapter. My laptop already has Bluetooth, so if that is all it is then even if I buy it, it's not going to fix my problem. And you can be sure I'm not going to upgrade my laptop to Windows 10 just to make Fitbit work. That'll cost more money than I already have spent on my Alta HR.
