If I understand the question correctly, there's a single relevant
communication interface on both the 92 and 92+: the legacy I/O, 2.5mm
stereo proprietary jack.

any program using those functions will not run on the 92, obviously.

A Plus module turns a 92 into a real 92+. Old 92+ calculators of the
first hardware revision ("HW1"), i.e. until some time in 1999, are
precisely 92 calculators with a Plus module; newer ("HW2") 92+
calculators are their own design.
The 92 Plus module is exceedingly rare, and a prized purchase...
