Conflicts between a husband and wife are an unavoidable aspect of marital life. While most disagreements are minor, there are times when tensions escalate into a serious situation that may result in divorce.

Since the authority to dissolve the delicate bond of Nikaah is entrusted to the husband, Quran emphasizes that even if a husband finds something displeasing about his wife, there is a possibility that Allah has hidden a great amount of good (KHAIR) in her, which may only become apparent after some time—whether days, months, or even years. Therefore, Quran strongly urges that the bond of Nikaah/marriage should be preserved by all possible means, in all circumstances.

Treat them (your wives) fairly. If you dislike them, then it is quite possible that you dislike something and Allah has placed a lot of good in it.
