Assalaam-u-Aalaikum Warahmatullahe Wabakatuhu,
Dear Hijama Therapists,
While receiving Hijama training, students were told the best days of Hijama (which are 17, 19 and 21 of Hijri calendar). Also, they were told not to perform Hijama on Wednesdays. The reason was that on this day Prophet Ayub Alaihissalaam got sick.
Recently, I came across an article about the Virtues of Wednesday. I am sharing it here for further discussion whether or not we should perform Hijama on Wednesdays. Do ponder of the last paragraph of the article:
Furthermore, Mullā Alī al-Qārī Rahimahullāh states in al-Maudhū'āt al-Kubrā that Hāfidh Ibn Hajar al-AsqalānI Rahimahullāh said, "It has reached me from some pious saints whom I have met that the day of Wednesday complained to Allāh saying , "People regard me to be a Wretched day." Therefore, Allāh Ta'ālā favored Wednesday by granting completion to any task that is initiated on a Wednesday.
Now please read the lengthy article and respond:
Wednesday-A Day Of Virtue?
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It has been the noble habit of our pious predecessors to initiate their pious endeavors and pursuits, including teaching Fiqh, Hadīth etc. on a Wednesday.
The author of Ta'līm al-Muta'allim, Imām Burhān al-Dīn al-Zarnūji Rahimahullāh, who was a student of Allāmah al-Marghīnānī Rahimahullāh relates regarding his teacher Allāmah al-Marghīnānī Rahimahullāh that he used to postpone the commencement of lessons until Wednesday in order to be blessed by Allāh Ta'ālā with an easy completion of the lessons. To substantiate his practice, Allāmah al-Marghināni Rahimahullāh used to Narrate the following Marfū 'Hadīth from his teacher Imām Ahmad bin Abdur Rashīd Rahimahullāh: [1]
Nothing started on Wednesday but has been (teaching learner , separated at the beginning of the lead )
Anything that is initiated on a Wednesday will reach its completion. (Ta'līm al-Muta'allim)
In al-Maqāsid al-Hasanah, Allāmah Sakhāwī Rahimahullāh says that he was unable to locate the source of this Hadīth. [2]
Nevertheless, the basis of commencing good virtuous deeds on a Wednesday may be supported by the following two reliable Narrations: [3]
Jaber means son of Abdullah, that the Prophet peace be upon him called Fath Mosque three times: on Monday, and on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, may answer him on Wednesday between prayers, he knew the people in the face "Jaber said:" was not brought down my is important thick, But that hour was conceived, Vadau where I understand the answer (Musnad Ahmad, modern 14563, founder of the message)
Jābir Radhiyallāhu Anhu relates that Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam made Duā three times in Masjid al-Fath. The first Duā was made on Monday, the second one was on Tuesday and the third Duā was on Wednesday. The one made on Wednesday was accepted between two Salāts. Happiness manifested itself on the face of Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam.Jābir Radhiyallāhu Anhu says further, "Anytime I was afflicted with an important and difficult task, I would anticipate this hour on Wednesday. I would supplicate to Allāh and my Duā would be accepted. (Musnad Ahmad)
Hadhrat Molānā Abdul Hai Lacknawi Rahimahullāh states that it is understood from this Hadīth that there is a time on Wednesdays wherein supplications are accepted. Therefore scholars and saints have elected Wednesday to initiate there pious pursuits and teaching.Usually, the teacher and the students make Dua on the first day of lessons for an easy completion of the book. It is anticipated from Allāh Ta'ālā that this Duā is accepted since it is made on a Wednesday. [4]
The second narration appears in Sahīh Muslim. The Hadīth is as follows:
And creating light on Wednesday (Sahih Muslim, Bab beginning of creation and the creation of Adam, peace be upon him)
And Allāh Ta'ālā created Nūr (celestial light) on a Wednesday. (Sahīh Muslim)
The author of Tanzīh al-Sharīah has stated that since Nūr was created on a Wednesday and Dīnī knowledge is Nūr, an individual may take good omen of being successful by starting lessons on Wednesday bearing in mind that Allāh Ta'ālā definitely brings completion to His Nūr.He further states a Narration of Hadhrat Aishah Radhiyallāhu Anhā wherein she says, "The best day for a traveler to embark on a journey, an individual to get married, and a child to get Circumcised is Wednesday. [5]
