Ibn Al Qayyam wrote 3 distinguishing features for the camel’s meat :

·         The difference between the Shiite and the Sunnis and between the Jews and Muslims is that the Muslims eat camel's meat.

·         In addition, the Shiites and Jews neither praise nor eat camel meat. It is well established in the religion that Muslims are allowed to eat camel meat.

·         The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) and his Companions used to eat it while traveling and otherwise (at their place of residence ~ Madinah)

He wrote further that young camel meat is one of the tastiest and most nutritious types of foods, and those who are used to eating it find it as light and beneficial as sheep meat.

Camel meat is popular among Arabs, because camel is the animal from the desert, furthermore, Arabs have a special connection with the climate in Hejaaz, hence camel’s meat suits them.

Because we live in other parts of the world, camels are not very common in our countries & our climate is also different, so non-Arabs could not develop the taste & passion for camel’s meat.

A full grown / whole camel can feed 100 people (around 150-200 kg meat) , this is the calculation of Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam, can you recall that event when he said this ?

Every part of camel’s meat is delicious, the meat itself, kidneys, liver, even the feet (Paye).

We cooked camel’s kidney in olive oil; a single kidney weighs around 1 kg approx. (you never expected this weight). And we love camel’s meat due to the 3 distinguishing features mentioned by Ibn Al-Qayyam.
