Assalam O Alaikum,

Both Frankincense (Saudi Riyals 400/- per kg for best quality) & Gum Acacia (SR 25 ~ 40/- per kg) are totally different.

Benefits of Frankincense were discussed earlier. And we only recommend the best variety that comes from Somalia. If you are unable to find a good quality, never compromise for a lower grade, for example, when I make formula "D" for Diabetes, I have to skip Frankincense at few occasions because the price is very high & I never add cheaper types that are sold as SR 40 ~ 60/- per kg (Lubaan Shehri that comes from Yemen OR Lubaan from India). Indian Lubaan is the worst variety & Shehri is of medium grade.

Samagh-ul-Arabi / Gum Acacia (Goond Babool) is analgesic, antidiarrhoeal, antipyretic, aphrodisiac, astringent, cooling, demulcent, emollient, expectorant, haemostatic, liver tonic, mucilaginous, nutritive, styptic and tonic. It is traditionally used, as a strong decoction, in the treatment of gonorrhoea with oedema, cough, diarrhoea, as a gargle for spongy gums, stomatitis, cancer and sore throat, or as a douche or enema in gonorrhoea, cystitis, vaginitis, leucorrhoea, piles, and anal prolapse. It is helpful in managing conditions involving haemorrhagic ulcers and wounds, dysentery, diabetes mellitus, conjunctivitis, intermitted fever, burns, bleeding, catarrh, urinogenital discharges, sexual debility, seminal weakness, spermatorrhoea, nocturnal emission and genitourinary complaints. It is considered a remedy that is helpful for treating premature ejaculation.

bismillahir rahmaanir raheem, Assalamualikum Akh,

Do you know what this gum?resin? is and the benifits of it? This looks very similar to the photo you have posted for Lubaan on your website. And the Lubaan i got looks more yellowish and not like what you have posted on your website for Lubaan? Are there different shades of Lubaan?

Can you clarify when possible?

Jazak Allahu khairan

Assalam O Alaikum,

Frankincense is one of Allah's wonders in this universe, it is the resin produced by Boswelia trees which grow at their own in the wild (with the Sustenance provided by Allah). Those wild trees remain un-touched by the modern technology of fertilizers, insecticides, etc. Frankincense is tapped from the very scraggly but hardy Boswellia tree by slashing the bark and allowing the exuded resins to bleed out and harden. These hardened resins are called tears. Frankincense trees are also considered unusual for their ability to grow in environments so unforgiving that they sometimes grow directly out of solid rock, ohhhhhh what a miracle. The means of initial attachment to the stone is not known but is accomplished by a bulbous disk-like swelling of the trunk. This disk-like growth at the base of the tree prevents it from being torn away from the rock during the violent storms that frequent the region they grow in. This feature is slight or absent in trees grown in rocky soil or gravel. The tears from these hardy survivors are considered superior for their more fragrant aroma.

Most expensive Lubaan comes from Sultanate of Oman (Salalah region), like it is a delicacy Created for kings & queens. There is a company in UK who sell this Lubaan, you can check

For Somali frankincense & apart from the top quality as Saudi Riyals 400/- per kg, there is a medium grade that is sold as SR 160 ~ SR 250/- per kg. And I mostly use this type for my family. The difference in price depends on the size of crystals & how fresh the resin is, old stock is dry & brittle, while fresh Lubaan is moist & soft.

Yemeni Lubaan (Shehri) is used by Arabs as a medicine, but I rarely touch this variety, it is not good for fumigation as it releases a pungent smell.

bismillahir rahmaanir raheem, Walikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Jazaka Allahu khairan akhi for the detailed clarification.

I just called and asked the people who sold me  Lubaan and Samgh al Arabi about its origin. They said the origin is from the tree!! and started to laugh.

Then upon asking again they agreed between themselves (after arguing) upon yemen for Lubaan and Sudaan for Samgh Al Arabi. While you have clarified the price difference between Lubaan and Samgh al arabi, they sold me both for the same price. It is indeed a calamity the situation we are in here.  People have no regard and clarity of what they are selling in terms of herbs, further price it unreasonably.

Some of the research you have done with regards to these herbs should be compiled into a book in my opinon, wallahu alim.

Jazaka Allahu Khairan for the clarification again. I think it will be a long journey (with ups and down) for me to learn this science and benefit from it, but i shall strive inshallaah.
