access these. There is currently a total of 49 files. I am sure I have
more here, and will add them as I come across them.
The naming conventions are a little mixed, and I may change one or two
in the future. I have either used very short titles, or the codes that
I used as references in my book. I have added some notes for these,
and more could be added, I am sure.
Some of the original files are rather large. I tried optimising these,
but to my surpise, noticed a loss of quality. So only one here is
optimised - Citsjam. If anybody needs the original, it is titled
Citsjam_original, and is much larger. I plan to add another text
(Citsmel) on the same Chinese style calendar soon - I have scanned
only part so far.
Two other files - tlkuntu2, and the works of "sum pa mkhan po", are
both rather unclear in the originals, and so would not respond well to
optimisation (which is a pity, as tlkuntu2 is an extremely important
text). I have left the first of these as it is (it is the largest file
in the collection), and have broken the second into its five
constituent texts.
The "vaidura dkar po" edition here (vkp_1/vkp_2) maybe in two volumes,
but it is not the modern Chinese two volume edition. This is an
excellent copy of the old Tibetan edition. We have a superb (stolen by
Younghusband) copy of this in the British Library, which was the first
text on the subject I ever tried to read, back in 1974!
The list of texts is attached to this email, but also is sitting with
the texts on the server. Whenever there are any changes or additions
to the texts, that list will also be updated.
Jampa - I started putting these files together mainly for your
benefit, after seeing the TBRC collection going unused at the
university. So, I hope you can download these alright. Let me know -
maybe I should mail you a DVD...
Incidentally, I discussed many years ago with Gene Smith my work on
breaking out Kalacakra related texts in this fashion and creating
collections for distributing to interested scholars and monasteries
(the Kalacakra collection includes 359 texts.) Since his death, I am
not at all sure that the people running TBRC know about this, so
please let's keep this collection to ourselves for now. I need to get
in touch with TBRC and let them know about this - maybe they would
like to have the set on their own server. I will be contacting them
once I have finished scanning Citsmel and send it over...

Simply go on http://tbastrodb.rimay.net/ , it will prompt you for a
username and password. The username is tibastro and the password is
tibetanastrology . Once you're logged in, you have access to a list of
the PDF and you can simply download them. The server has virtually no
bandwidth limit, feel free to take them all if you want.

Please do, I let you the access to the directory. Tell me once you've
done it, I'll put them in a backup directory.

I'm quite interested in this topic, please keep me informed about this.
The server could as well host your text collection about Kalacakra, it's
extremely precious and should be made availabe to scholars! Tell me if
you're interested in hosting more of your pechas, the hard drive is
500GB so it can host everything without problem, and providing a website
will be (I hope) quite simple and require no maintenance...

The most important there is the third one, the "pad dkar zhal lung". I
have never come across an old Tibetan edition of that - the one TBRC
scanned is a modern Beijing publication (incidentally, the publisher
accidentally sent two copies to New York, one of which was immediately
forwarded here, and was a great help in finishing my book properly).
If anybody ever comes across an old edition of this text, please let
us know so that we can get it scanned...
