For those of you who have been to Hajj, you should have seen this coming. They set up a gigantic mall right next to the Kaaba and then force people from Western Countries (the ones they think are rich, but actually many of them aren't and have used all their savings just to barely make it to Hajj) to stay a week extra so they are forced to shop at these places.

So what they are realizing now is that their petroleum scheme is about to be finished, in about 10 years, because of electric vehicles now being a viable alternative. I think they have also realized at this point that Saudi is not going to be an international 'vacation destination', Loooool. So their plan now is to squeeze as much money out of the hajjis from Western Countries as they can, because they know this is not going to stop. It might just be enough money for the Al Saud family to keep their gold plated 747s.

Here is the problem with their plan, and why it will backfire. Many of the Hajjis from Western Countries are dual citizens. So now, instead of applying thru US/Canada/Australia, they will apply thru their home countries, so these stupid rules don't apply to them. Yes, they will need to wait longer for a Hajj Visa, but at this point they will be patient with that because it's much preferable to be forced to go to Hajj with strangers and with a Wahabbi guide who won't let you do Hajj in any way besides the Salafi way, and then your Hajj becomes batil so what's the point anyway.

Also, Hajj will become unaffordable to all but the most wealthy of those from Western Countries. It's almost that way now, but this will make it worse. No choice in Hotels. You must stay at a $1000 per night luxury hotel owned by MBS. Want to eat ? Here is a $200 per meal plate at the restaurant of MBS. Want to stay in Mina ? Here is a $1500 per night tent that is owned by MBS. That's your choice. Actually you have no choice. This is what it's going to be like. You will need to take out a second mortgage on your house for you and every family member who wants to go to Hajj.

So it will backfire because the dual citizens will apply thru their home country, and the ones without dual citizenship won't go, except for the very wealthy ones, and there isn't that many of those. Hajj is only wajib on you when you can afford it. Almost noone will be able to afford it. They are trying to get the American / Australian / Canadian/ European luxury market for Hajj by getting only the wealthy people who live in these countries. What they don't understand is that the vast majority (like 99.9%) of the wealthy people in these countries are non muslim and have no interest at all to go to Hajj. They spend their vacations in the Swiss Alps, The South of France, Bahamas, Hawaii, Gold Coast, etc. That's not going to change anytime soon. The ones who do have the interest, the vast majority of them are not wealthy. So what market segment are they going after anyway ? One that doesn't exist.

For the ones who don't have dual citizenship, like myself, I think we should petition our government(s) to put pressure on the Al Saud gang to reverse this rule. This is an issue of religious freedom. The Saudis are effectively barring all non Wahabis from Western Countries from Hajj by forcing them to invalidate their Hajj by following Hajj rules which they do not accept. So we should start the petition process.

The excuse of MBS is that 'well we're removing the middle men'. Actually, they're not. What they are doing is taking the worst of all the middle men and putting them in charge of everyone. Not fooling anybody. To answer to OPs question, yes Hajj is ruined. For now. InShahAllah, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) will destroy their plans. The curse of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is on the oppressors.

What fills me with revulsion and is shocking, is this lottery and Travel arrangement fiasco has been outsourced to a Dubai based Indian travel firm with links to Modi and his BJP. Idolaters now have been given power over the muslimeen.

Am very thankful to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to allow me and my wife to complete our Hajj obligation in 2009, would have a huge problem with being led on Haj by a Jahil guide.

Salam they have invested heavily for introducing KSA as "an international 'vacation destination" especially for inviting tourists to southern parts which has been stolen from Yemen under disguise of vacation in nature & historical houses & villages by introducing these as Saudi heritage through Youtube vloggers especially American vloggers .

It's highly possible that KSA expands it to all countries even Muslims countries which will lead to highly decreasing number of Shia pilgrims from any country due to their vague & anti shia standards of lottery system which KSA has justified as fighting with scamming in Hajj agencies which increasing number of wealthy pilgrims which have radical inclination from Sunni countries which Sunni pilgrims & their countries will be more influenced by so called new brand of KSA moderate Islam!

No shia scholar has coommented about it yet because It has been a great shock for any muslim in western countries which they are still in state of confusion because anyone tries to find a way for going to Hajj by any means this year also number of Shia pilgrims in western countries is too low which also Shia Hajis of Iran & Iraq have been sent for Hajj before announcing this new visa change so therefore majority of people are unaware from this change which we must wait & see for future events .

Imagine paying cash for visiting God's house, on top of having to get your vaccine shots lol.

This is a brand new thing. It just happened a few weeks ago, as people were preparing for Hajj. Irony on top of irony. The marjaa' are probably studying the issue now. At the same time, there isn't much the marjaa can do about this.

There is a brother I know well here in my city. He runs a hamlet here, and his father ran it before him. They are a good mumin family and my hajj experience going with that hamlet was excellent. There are many brothers and sisters that have went with his group over many years. I'm not sure what he is going to do now, may Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) help him and his family. I was planning on going to Hajj again with his group maybe next year or the year after. I think those plans are off now.

Right now people are focusing pursuing their life dreams and are influenced on materialistic life and they have lost interest to perform hajj. Most of them think that they will do the hajj when they reach old age while at the same time we have goverment that makes the hajj even more complicated to lose totally interest. The more we go forward in time the more people will abandoned the hajj.

Also I would not put it past these shayateen to purposefully have designed this system at such a last minute haste, in order to prevent Muslim from protesting and from Ulema around the world to issue fatwas against the system.

Salam , They can organize pilgrims for Shia pilgrims likewise pilgrimage to Karbala & Mashhad & Najaf even if they are Sunni Muslims nevertheless some Sunni vloggers have promoted visiting Al aqsa mosque which it has been supported by Wahabists so KSA can't ban it according to Sunni narrations which just allows pilgrimage to Mecca & Medina & Al Aqsa(Jerusalem) anyway personally I don't recommend it because unfortunatelty it's under control of Israel which for visiting it Muslims face too much discrimination & humilation also currently traveling to Al Aqsa(Jerusalem) will lead to normalizing relations with fake state of Israel.
