Ineed help please with a corrupted folder. The other day, I saved a Word document in that folder on my desktop PC. It has not worked since and every time you click on the folder it says: "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I have already tried 'unlinking' the PC account via Dropbox.com. I have also tried (several times) un-installing/re-installing the Dropbox app on my PC, I have also cleared the Dropbox cache on the PC, and have also tried disabling Avast antivirus while doing this. Nothing works. The folder is also still fine, when accessing via Dropbox.com and via my iPad and iPhone. Currently, the desk tray icon has a blue circle, as if its synching but cannot finish synching. The folder itself has a red/white cross by it. I have also tried View Synching Issues, but again no joy. I even entirely deleted the folder from my Dropbox account and the corrupted 'empty' folder still came up when I re-installed the Desktop Dropbox app. So maybe this corrupted version is somehow stored in the PC, somewhere? I have also cleaned off any Malware. So that has been done. Also, I should add that I have managed to successfully add other Word files since this occured - so Dropbox itself, via the Desktop app, is working. Its just this folder that is corrupted.
Anyway, luckily it doesn't matter, as I managed to solve the problem myself. Something I'd already tried once before but this time it worked. I unlinked the PC account, deleted the entire folder from my Dropbox account, then cleared the cache, and then re-linked Dropbox app to my PC and then re-loaded the folder back into Dropbox by dragging and dropping the files online. That seemed to work fine. No more synching issues. I'd tried this before - and it wasn't working, but maybe I did something slightly differently then. Anyway, I've not stored the original Word document that caused the problem in Dropbox again in case it causes an issue again, but otherwise, all is working smoothly.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please follow the steps again and instead click "Fix permissions". The app might need to sync for a while after doing this, so please just keep an eye out for any progress.
If the issue persists, can you let me know if there are any errors shown in the sync status of the desktop app? You can see this when you click the Dropbox icon along the bottom of the small pop up window.

Should I 'unlink' the account from here? That's one thing I have not done before (I did it previously by signing into dropbox over the internet, then clicking settings and then security and then 'unlink PC').
You may need to click on a blank space within the window before holding the Space bar if the option doesn't show up at first. It may take a second to appear so please keep the Space bar pressed for a short period.

I usually prefer to fix a Linux system than to reinstall from scratch. My computers have seen many distribution upgrades and a list of PPAs or third-party repositories. APT usually makes sure that everything works in the end. However, the fact that the package manager thinks that all required packages are 'installed' does not guarantee that all the files are present on the file system.
My disk were randomly corrupted while I was experimenting with a beta OS. So I ran these 3 commands from the docs (debsums -c, dpkg -S, and apt-get install) one by one to understand what they do. It seems to have worked well:
One final note: you should also check your packages' config files to make sure they're OK. This can be more difficult because config files often change, and the changes are legitimate, so you'll need to manually inspect each changed config file to determine whether or not it's actually corrupt. This is how you get a list of changed config files:
The script given by PeniWize works great for corrupted files, but does not take care of packages with missing files, because debsums reports them to stderr. To reinstall packages with missing files, this worked for me:
Disclaimer/Note that -x option restores config files (in /etc) which are not restored by default. It can hose your system. It is very tricky to make any automated tool to restore that correctly, as config files are frequently customized. You should make backups and after restoring compare differences with your latest backup and make some judgement calls. Even after that, devise a plan how to test each change as it is possible to badly break things without means to recover.
Using the dpkg program along with some Bash scripting should be able to this for you. The only caveat would be if someone replace "clean" versions of the files with "malicious" ones. For that you would need to get valid MD5 checksums from a pristine package. Anyways, here is the shell code to achieve what you want:
The script would only print out if a file or directory that was defined in the package was missing. Also you would need to replace the 'PACKAGE_NAME' variable with the package that you would want to inspect. Hope this helps.
My machine was slow and i assumed because i just collected too much junk. 1 day i turn my machine on and the system says Windows needs to check the consistancy of one or more of your drives, i use 2k pro.
It proceeds to find a gajillion orphaned files and starts....replacing them in a folder. 5 minutes into it it will say CHeck disc has ran into an unknown error and my machine goes ahead and continues on to my desktop.
CCleaner showed me 300 megs of issues and deleted them and then at the bottom of my tool bar on the right it gave me the option to add folders which i added the corrput folders and couldnt figure out what to do next.
And if that still doesnt fix my issue when i turn my machine on, HOW do i find what the $130 file is and how do i delete these orphaned files that check disc keeps shutting down while trying to move/recover ?
If the error presists you should probably have chkdsk do a full scan that also scans the disk surface, however only do this when you know you won't be using your system for at least 2 to 4 hours. To have chkdsk do a full scan use: chkdsk /r c:
STarts spinning starts saying Something about unreadable segments, then parameter ($130,160) then spins a bit and closed. then i reran and it didnt do it no more. it started counting off what it was checking and closed automaticly
Ok i have found the corrupt folder. I have deleted everything within it. I try to delete the folder and it says the folder is not empty, unable to delete. I Ran a program called incinerator, i dragged the folder to it AND it was in the incinerator AND on my desktop. I repeated this serveral times. It still had the same result. The folder on my desktop and multiple copies in the incinerator ( a trash bin that supposedly exceed govenrment required data destruction/removal requirments for thier machins *cough *im so sure *)
Yep, the /v option is only used to clean/remove unused indexes on an NTFS disk it doesn't correct any file errors. Errors can exist within indexes hence the reason to periodically clean them using the /v option.
I updated Fusion 360 to 2.0.286 after not using the program for a few months. I've tried to open 4 projects but they are all listed as corrupt. I've restarted Fusion 360 but the result is the same - corrupt. These projects worked fine a few months ago.
Thanks for posting! I am sorry to hear about these problems that you are having trying to access your designs. As of right now, I'm not too certain what happened here, but I have downloaded your diagnostic logs (thanks for sending those by the way!) and have begun investigating them to see what I can find.
It definitely looks like the file has become corrupted. Unfortunately, the log files didn't tell me much about what specifically caused the corruption. However, I have enlisted the help of some member of the development team who would like to have a look at your design to see if they can figure out what happened here.
Would you be able to share the design with me? To do this, you are going to want to navigate to
myhub.autodesk360.com and sign into your account. Once you get signed in, navigate through your projects to the design that is displaying this error (535108 assembly v1, if I'm not mistaken) and export a Fusion 360 Archive file of the design by clicking the downward pointing arrow and selecting "Fusion 360 Archive" as shown in the image below.
