Rock Love is a half live / half (sixth) studio album by American rock band Steve Miller Band. The album was released in September 1971, and compiled by Capitol Records. All of Miller's previous backing band had left following the recording of the previous album, save bassist Bobby Winkelman. They were replaced by members of Winkelman's previous group, the psychedelic rock band Frumious Bandersnatch for this record, including Ross Valory (a future member of Journey) on bass, and Jack King on drums. Bobby Winkelman was in the band (having moved back to rhythm guitar) during the live recordings on the album's first side, but is not credited on the album cover. David Denny, who later joined the band in 1976, is a guest guitarist (again, not credited) on "Blues Without Blame".
The album consists of three blues-rock tracks recorded live, including lengthy jam-style "Love Shock" which lasts nearly 12 minutes and includes an extensive drum solo, and four studio tracks. The first song starts with the words "I'm going to play you some blues 'cos I know you like that", but some critics disagreed, criticising the album's songs as "generic white-boy blueisms". Unlike Miller's previous five albums, this album was a commercial failure.[1]
I'm currently in the process of compiling a Spotify playlist for my wedding that consists of love songs in the rock genre. This includes songs ranging from soft rock/alternative to hard rock and metal, as well as a few classic rock songs. I've searched the sub for suggestions and have been going through Spotify playlists for rock love songs that are not about: (1) losing a loved one; (2) pining for someone they can't have (eg. already being in another relationship); (3) broken relationships; and (4) generally depressing songs. There have been a few exceptions due to lyric interpretations.
Our Rock and Roll Love Blueprint celebrates over 1400 musicians, artists, songwriters and producers who have been pivotal to the evolution of the sprawling genre that is rock music. From the early debt owed to blues, gospel, jazz and country performers like Ma Rainey, Lead Belly, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Woody Guthrie who paved the way for rock and roll pioneers like Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Elvis who in turn inspired a generation including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and The Velvet Underground and continue to inspire musicians today like The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys and St Vincent. The print pays homage to the music and artists that laid the foundation for rock and roll, including Memphis and Delta blues (W.C. Handy, Memphis Minnie, Lead Belly, Robert Johnson), gospel (Sister Rosetta Tharpe), country (Jimmie Rodgers, The Carter Family), folk (Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger), boogie-woogie (Fats Domino), Chicago blues (Muddy Waters, B. B. King), doo-wop (The Drifters, The Teenagers) and jump blues (Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris). The print then weaves through the pioneers of early rock and roll (Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers), the 50's stars shaping youth culture (Bill Haley & His Comets, Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran), skiffle (Lonnie Donegan), and the subsequent British invasion (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield).

In the years that followed, people continued to paddle out to the rock, adding their graffiti. The big block letters spelling out LOVE remained the most visible message on the slab...and the name stuck.
There was a time when every hard rock band had at least one song about love, and usually much more than that. Of course, the world was a different place back then. The classics will always have a place in the hearts of fans from past generations, but what about those who are looking to discover more modern hard rock love songs?
My voice is male; it sounds male. I don't like that. I have a love-hate with my voice. I'm misgendered constantly if people don't see me; that takes a toll, but I get through it. If I had had access to hormone blockers, that wouldn't be the case. This is so important. This option is so important. If we can get back on track and move forward, I am from a generation who may be disappearing because I have to go through surgeries and all kinds of things to back up what puberty that I did not want did to my body.

I felt very grateful and extremely lucky and really excited and just on top of the world. To know that people were that interested in me and that the producers and everyone at VH1 thought I was you know "something." They saw something in me and I thought that was just magical. It was definitely you know scary and stressful. It's hard to, you know, you gotta be interesting and funny, and beautiful or whatever and hopefully people love you and they watch you and your career flourishes and you go on [Laughs]
Ever since Princess and the Frog came out ten years ago, Tiana has been my favorite Disney princess. I love RockLove jewelry, who makes a lot of Disney and Star Wars pieces (among other fandoms). Having owned a few RockLove pieces already, you can imagine I GASPED when I saw there was now a RockLove Princess and the Frog collection!
Besides being believable, two other things make this song great. One: A song about a girl, by a guy, that praises that girl entirely for her personality traits is a rare and beautiful thing. Two: People talk (and sing) about falling headlong in love all the time, but this song, with its double-time rave ups, comes a lot closer to sounding the way that actually feels than any mid-tempo treatment of the subject.
Of course it was oikish and it was never a straight love song and more of a piss take of the form but sung with such a debonair gusto by lead vampire Dave Vanian that it almost becomes a love song by default.
This is the archetype punk love song. A song of filth, degradation and very dark matters. The fact that the Pauline in the song actually existed makes it an even darker four minutes of filth from a band who actually seemed like young innocents shocked and disgusted with the world instead of reveling in its dark nature as their myth portrays. An establishment that was calling them antichrists was far more filthy and disgusting than they could even imagine at the time.
A classic rock n roll love song and one of the few straight love songs in the Clash canyon. The band we too busy trying to change the world and oddly for a group so steeped in romanticism they had few songs of love and and more songs of fury but then that was the times, a time of heavy manners and other business.
Heart breaking. Joey Ramone always had the heartbreak voice of a singer who sang with tears in his eyes, the Ramones were the easiest band in the world to copy thats why they set the punk template hut the one bit no one could ever copy was Joeys voice- one of the perfect pop voices and here in the middle of Dee Dee Ramones bubblegum war fantasies and manic vignettes of madness Joey writes one of his songs of pure love and he means every damn word.
