Below is an accumulation of work. To be fair and honest, I acquired all the books through many libraries via friends and family via online access; therefore, it is all free information. The work was gathering it and sharing it. The purpose and goal of this post are to help others get college credit at little to no cost. I will probably create a blog on my process as I further my education and career, hoping to inspire or show others alternative routes towards a successful career or future based on their terms, not the greedy ones of others.
We liked REA guides too. Used those for US 1 and 2, biology because we got them on the used sale. Our library system has access (for free) the Peterson's prep exams. Ask your reference librarian if your system has access to those. Where I live it is called testing and education center powered by peterson's. Middle gal is my clep exam taker extraordinaire. After our regular homeschool high school stuff (with mfw), she brushed up with free online classes offered by modernstates.org and got vouchers that way for the clep exam. and even reimbursed for test center fee. check them out. Then we studied with the free stuff with our library. For English Lit, and Humanities, someone suggested we use instantcert dot com for flashcards. for 20 dollars for month access, it was good thing for those exams. Not sure what English 1301 and 1302 are at your college for which clep exam will be used. Middle gal passed 9 clep exams using combinations of those resources. US 1, US 2, biology, humanities, english lit, sociology, psych, amer govt, and pre-calculus. But we didn't have spanish. regarding the changes from about a year ago until last fall, many of the changes were not in content, but in how the number of questions in a subtopic were distributed. more specifics can be found on this blog -revisions-now-what/

CLEP study materials are available at Military personnel and dependents can access www.navy.mil for additional test preparation materials and practice exams. All base and local libraries also have CLEP books and study materials available.

Her research areas include delivery of sound content in the science classroom (natural sciences), diversity, equity, and teacher professional development in science education. She was a 2009 University Fellow of Florida State University for the School of Teacher Education. She has fifteen years of classroom science teaching experience with expertise in content delivery of natural sciences, curriculum development, and teaching in diverse classroom settings. She is the author of a variety of curricula, books, and academic materials in the K-20 science venue. Her experiences also include speaking on issues of education and the family at educational conferences in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in North America. CLEP exams are available in 33 subjects and test the material commonly required in an introductory-level college course. Examinees can earn from three to twelve credits at more than 2,900 colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. You may wear a watch to the test center. However, you may not wear one that makes noise, because it may disturb the other test-takers. No cell phones, dictionaries, textbooks, notebooks, briefcases, or packages will be permitted, and drinking, smoking, and eating are prohibited.
I earned my MFA in Writing from Lindenwood University. Before that, I received my BA from University of Central Missouri. I graduated from both schools with honors.
Before I went into teaching, I wrote for magazines, newspapers, and a publishing company. I also published poetry, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, and 5 full-length books.
But I really missed being in the classroom, so 4 years ago, I started to substitute teach. I taught every grade from K to 12.
I wanted to understand how language was presented to students from an early age and how to reach each pupil using the best possible didactic for their specific needs. I eventually taught 9th and 12th grade Literature and Composition full time.
While I was working in different schools during the day, I was tutoring at night. I tutored Chinese senior citizens preparing for their citizenship exams, parents from Mexico learning English to set a good example for their children, and I even tutored tax preparation to people courageously changing careers later in life.
It was during this time, and the months that followed, I tutored at Sylvan, focusing on test prep and college application essays. I also helped HS seniors and those just starting out in college with some of their writing challenges.
I now teach at the college level. I love learning from my students every day, and I fall more and more in love with language and what it can do to mend broken hearts, resolve conflicts, and mitigate loneliness.
I truly believe no one should feel they are "bad" at language. Therefore, I strive to find ways to foster curiosity, because if the student is curious and having fun, he or she will naturally want to improve and seek out opportunities to grow.
I will continue gleaning wisdom from my students and striving to improve my pedagogy each day I'm able to make teaching my occupation, my delight, my honor.
