On Windows 10, the programme opens with a message reading 'contents not found'. I've used the 'menu - import folder' option in an attempt to load music files and nothing happens. I'm therefore unable to load music into my Walkman using the programme. I've found that I can copy and paste files onto the Walkman via Windows, but the files are loaded without the properties needed to use the SenseMe function on the device correctly. I've uninstalled/re-installed the programme both with and without PC restarts and the problem remains - 'contents not found'.
I've checked the link and found that for Windows 7, I need SP1 or later. My PC is shown as Windows 7 Home SP1 2009 and Music Centre for PC opens, displays music I've previously imported but when connecting the Walkman and using the 'apply properties' option, the programme runs but crashes after 4 - 5 minutes of doing so.
For Windows 10, I need Home / Pro (April 2018 Update (version 1803) or later). My laptop is shown as Windows 10 Home 2019. On the laptop, Music Centre for PC opens, displays a message reading 'loading' before then displaying a message reading 'contents not found'. This happens whether the Walkman is connected or not. I've tried using 'menu - file - import folder' which should then display my music folders stored in 'Windows - My Music' but nothing happens. That is, Music Centre for PC remains inert, with no spinning blue Windows circle showing any activity taking place.
Having same issue on Samsung Notebook 7, latest windows version. The Music Center app will open, and it starts importing music but doesn't really because within a minute I get "app stopped working. Do you want to close app or wait"
I have a similar issue, however it's with a file type of Wav. I got an album/sound selection with a game Xenoblade chronicles, and I downloaded the songs from Nintendo via the link and using the code. I import all the songs, it makes an album, all the songs work except the 2nd title and it displays that message as well. I'm using windows 10, I've tried updating Music center and it hasn't got any updates.
I thought it may have just been an error with the download so I've downloaded it and deleted restarted my computer and music center, still the same outcome everytime. Is this something that needs to be sorted on sony's end?
I installed the older Music Center 2.1.0 from this link: =624. It installed just fine and opened just fine. Music Center then asked me if I wanted to upgrade and I selected to upgrade. It installed 2.2.1 and then it was broken again. It will not open on Windows 10 Pro. I uninstalled and loaded the old version 2.1.0 and it is working fine again. I would ask Sony Support to get this fixed. It is frustrating to spend so much money on a Hi-Res musics player only to find out that the accompanying software is broken. It is further frustrating that customers are having to do the debugging and finding work-arounds.
Sony Music Center is a free audio software solution from Sony Home Entertainment Sound Products Inc., the top-notch manufacturing business of TV, video, sound, and peripherals. It is a platform wherein you can securely organize, transfer and play music to any Sony audio device like WALKMAN. Playback of high-resolution audio contents here is also possible to do.
Once you launch the app, a neatly organized main window will greet you. Here, you can see a simple menu tab on the upper part. Meanwhile, the bottom part of the screen displays an all-inclusive music player with a powerful equalizer and a song list panel. As mentioned, you will be able to arrange all your music files here thoroughly.
The audio contents that you have in your WALKMAN device can easily be imported through this software. You can also quickly transfer your playlist files and their lyrics to and from your PC, as well. On top of that, it provides impressive playback capability that can support even the music files with high-resolution.
OK, so I've just updated my phone and installed the 'new' songpal (music centre) app, and now I cannot control my home entertianment system. I never knew the app functionality would cease. (I would not have updated my phone otherwise).
My 1050 is mounted in a concealed cupboard (downstairs), and I use the app to control it from any room in my home. It is dual zone after all. The express reason I purchased this product was because I could control it from any room, without a TV! I use the app to play network stored music in upstairs bedrooms as one example.
I sent an email to sony before I stumbled on this thread. They have not replied yet, but after reading various things online (particulary the US thread), I am not holding out much hope of them fixing it.
I see sony have deleted the massive US thread about this issue. They have done nothing to resolve the matter, they have just deleted all evidence of the unhappy customers. Disgusting behaviour from a company I once held in high esteem.
I am very angry about this. I purchased the str-dn1050 specifically because of its multi-room capabilities. The unit was the centre of my home entertainment system. It is mounted in a concealed cupboard on the ground floor of my home. I used to use it to play music in zone 2 which is on the upper floor of my home. The only way to do that was to controll it over wifi using the music center app.
I purchased the str-dn1050 because it was advertised as having wifi control. It no longer has wifi control. My purchase decision was based on a lie by sony. Sony has destroyed my product and stolen my money based on false advertising.

But I generally listen to music via a Sony Walkman which I upload via Sony MusicCentre and which cannot read the files returning their code 24667. I have tried dragging and dropping the folder into MusicCentre via Windows 10 Explorer but although I can see the folder there are still can't get it into MusicCentre to transfer to my Walkman. I've tried unloading and reloading this album without any success. I've also been unable to burn of a cd via both i-Tunes and Windows Media Player.
Things look better now, Music Centre miraculously restored itself and I was finally able to burn copies of the music in both i-Tunes and Media Player. I was able to get Music Centre to accept the data from the cd disc and can now access this recording via my Walkman.
But the key is "mastered for iTunes". I can even see the phrase "creating the best possible masters for the Apple ecosystem" (just above the lower area I've ringed). I see nothing that says "but such music will play perfectly well on non-Apple players". (Yes, you can call me cynical.)
We've seen posts here about music that requires authorising, even though it has already been authorised. The solution appears to be to delete the non-playing files and re-download them, because the original download is faulty. I would try that first if I were you.
