Hello chaps

I'm working my through the document "Getting started with the MSP430
Launchpad" and have just completed Lab3: Initialisation and GPIO.

I'm getting two warning when I build my project:

Severity and Description Path Resource Location Creation Time Id
creating output section ".reset" without a SECTIONS specification
Lab3 line 0
creating output section ".stack" without a SECTIONS specification
Lab3 line 0

and the following console warning:

MSP430: Can't Run Target CPU: Could not run device (to breakpoint)

The Launchpad device is plugged in and receiving power, and has the
correct chip present, and I'm using Code Composer Studio Core Edition
4.2.0.10018.

After some google-fu I am none the wiser as to how I can fix these
problems.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Cheers

Can you provide a URL to these labs? Or is it a non-free lab?

Hi

I found them on the site http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP430_LaunchPad_Learning_Community

The document "Getting Started with the MSP430 Launchpad" can be found
here

http://software-dl.ti.com/trainingTTO/trainingTTO_public_sw/MSP430_LaunchPad_Workshop/LaunchPad.pdf

Which is found in the secction "Running the Labs" of the page

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_the_MSP430_LaunchPad_Workshop

All of the above links can be found referenced on the site

http://www.ti.com/launchpadwiki

Which is mentioned on the side of the packing the Launchpad comes in.

Just to double-check, have you used CCS with the launchpad before and had it
work?
It would seem like a:
windows issue (driver)
hardware issue with the launchpad
a bug with CCS
a cable issue (the mini-usb)
but dont know what has worked in the past.

Hi Kevin

Yes, the kit was working when I got it, and I successfully installed
CCS and worked my way through Lab 1 and successfully deployed and
debuged the code.

The Launchpad is detected when I plug it in to my laptop (a Mac Book
Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate).

I have since uninstalled CCS, made sure all my drivers are up to date
and reinstalled it.

However, I will check again with another Mini USB cable tonight.

Cheers
