We have another new awesome activity!   It's a guide for an innovator activity that would be great for camp or after school programs.  Let me know if you are interested, and I can send you the link for the activity.  It's called "Drought in Africa - Smart Irrigation System".  And it was featured on the news in the Dallas area, http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Sachse-Students-Inventing-Water-System-for-Africa-400256561.html .

Just wanted to let everyone know that this project is absolutely amazing!  Our students in Garland ISD enjoyed every minute of it.  If you have any questions about logistics, how to start it, or anything else, feel free to email me at jali...@garlandisd.net or post it here so everyone can see it.

The Smart Irrigation project is now posted on the T3 Europe Content site.

This is an integrated STEM project based on an actual problem that challenges students to build an efficient irrigation system. Students will learn and use concepts in computer science, environmental.

The project was first done as a 10-week after-school club with high school students. We started with “Hello World” and built to the programming, science and engineering concepts necessary for the students to design, build and present their own solutions during the last few sessions.

Depending on your situation and interests, the project can be adapted to shorter or longer experiences.

The materials posted include a 2-page summary, a PDF with a simple example program solution, a program file with a little more elaborate solution (TNS or 8XP) and then a zipped file of slides decks that we used in the club meetings or as background.

If you are interested in doing the project, please feel free to contact Fred Fotsch (ffo...@ti.com), Dave Santucci (dsan...@ti.com), Erick Archer (ear...@ti.com) or Harshal Chhaya (chh...@ti.com) with questions.

Here is the link the overall T3 Europe Resource site. There are many activities available on the site. The site welcomes submissions from around the world.
