Hi,

TI-Rover has several commands for driving and I am curious which ones have been really useful for you in your classroom.

In my mind, there’s three groups of commands (you may have a different taxonomy)

  1. Turtle-like commands
    1. Simple commands: forward/backward/left/right
    2. with additional params:

                                    i.      backward/forward(time)

                                   ii.      backward/forward(time, speed)

                                 iii.      backward/forward(distance, speed)

                                 iv.      left/right(radians/gradians)

  1. Math-focused coordinate drive commands
    1. to_xy(x,y), to_polar(r, theta)
  2. Direct motor control commands
    1. motors(direction, speed, time)

Which of these have been the most useful? The least used?

I know the answer probably depends on the topics you teach, so if you could answer with the topic/activity and the corresponding commands, it’ll help.

Thank you for your feedback.

Regards,

- Harshal

Greg,

Thanks for your feedback. Was this in a math classroom? What grade and what was the topics?

Also, Curtis reminded me to add to_angle() to the list of math-focused commands (in addition to_xy(x,y), to_polar(r, theta))

Thanks,

- Harshal
