Hi,

What external sensors and devices have you used (or seen used at conferences etc.) with TI-Rover?

The ones I have seen most commonly used are:

  1. ultrasonic rangers (side-facing for parallel parking, down-facing for detecting the end of the table etc.)
  2. external speakers (through a special cable – thanks Karlheinz)
  3. external LED (to simulate headlights)

Any others I am missing?

Thanks,

- Harshal

Harshal,

I attached a plastic straw to a servo and had the kids deliver a ring to a target.

Hi Harshal,
Just for completeness, not sure that counts :-) :
In my implementation of using the Tello drone with the TI Innovator system, I'm using a ESP8266 microcontroller connected to the ('inofficial') UART port of the TI-Hub. The ESP8266 transmits the drone commands to the Tello drone via its WLAN port.

For those of you who are interested in more details and have confidence in flashing a ESP8266 in Arduino, please visit the T3 Europe Resource Portal:

And for those of you who want to get inspired about what you can do with the TI-Rover and Tello, watch the movie clip here:

Happy Easter,
Hans-Martin

Oh - there is one more:
A very creative solution about how to make TI-Rover draw perfect circles we saw in one of our workshops back in Oct 2023:

Just glue-tape a pen to the rear of the TI-Rover and let the Rover do a 360 Deg turn.

Cheers,
HM
