Subject: PLEASE SHARE: Meeting with Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention coordinator for N Seattle
To: Choi, Alicia <Alici...@seattle.gov>

Hello NW Seattle Garden Liaisons & Communication leads,

This is the time of year when many gardens experience an uptick in produce theft and vandalism. Unfortunately, there are several gardens where this has been a serious and persistent problem and has led to concerns about gardener safety and questions around crime prevention. There are also P-Patches in NW Seattle that are currently or have recently experienced challenges with encampments near their garden.

The volunteer leadership team at Bitter Lake P-Patch has been working on organizing a meeting with the Seattle Police Department N. Seattle Crime Prevention coordinator. This meeting is scheduled for August 23 at 2pm, and will include a presentation on personal safety, a presentation on how to safely dispose of sharps, and time for questions.

Please share this with your gardeners as soon as possible. Having an opportunity to hear from and ask questions of SPD staff for our area in an organized meeting setting is valuable, so I hope interested gardeners can attend.

August 23, 2-3pm
