Hi Jeff,
Thanks so much for taking the time to meet last week to discuss: 1) the lower ponding area that is impacting the west N/S path; 2) site survey and staking to support neighbor/backyard encroachment on pond 3) upcoming plans and timing for a new Thurston ES; and 4) further discussions around project plans and collaboration.
You and I discussed the present condition that will exist when there are large/increased volumes of precipitation. After repairing the berm/catch basin/culvert and previously repairing the broken stormwater pipe, the condition that exists is a result and function of the constructed wetland. There are proper overflow drains in place and water may accumulate from time to time, covering that westernmost N/S path.
In regards to immediate action steps for the west N/S path and site area, AAPS will be looking to install signage that: a) directs people to available/alternative paths when that N/S path is covered in water; and b) delineates AAPS property lines around the northern boundaries. These are short term measures that will not significantly impact the general fund (maintenance of paths is a general fund expense) or the present site condition. Further, after clarification from our team the installation of an additional drain is not currently a recommended measure because of permitting, feasibility and cost.
After speaking with our program manager and consultants, we may be able to add feasible, longer term solutions to our capital fund project related expenses when we construct the new school building and would like to have those conversations with you and the committee.
I'm happy to answer questions as needed - please give me a call at your convenience. The next steps I documented included:
- The follow up as outlined above;
- There is an upcoming discussion with the committee where you may share this feedback;
- During this conversation, you may discuss some possible formats for outreach/discussion with the committee on the new Thurston ES project and associated site improvements;
- You may share that initial site mobilization may begin as early as summer 2025 (with an estimated project completion date of Fall 2027);
- We will coordinate follow up conversations with the TNC and timing based on your conversation.
Thanks again for taking the time to meet onsite and we look forward to continuing to work with you and the committee.
Please let me know some dates in the next few weeks or so that might work for the committee.
All Best Wishes,
Jason
