Good evening TNC Committee,

We will be having a meeting via zoom on Tuesday May 14, 2024. If this date doesn’t work for you, please let me know.

Once confirmed, I will send out a meeting agenda that includes the latest from AAPS regarding flooding in the TNC and new developments.

Thank you,

Jeff

I'm happy to set up the unlimited Zoom session for this again. May 14 works for me. Would it start at 7pm?

I'd like to see about reserving the library and meeting in person for the next meeting.  If the room is available, is everyone on board with that?

Hi everyone,

On the assumption that everyone is in favor, I've requested the library for 5/14 at 7.  I'll let you all know when I hear back from aaps.

May 14 works for me and 7:00pm is good

Also just wanted to say I’m looking forward to meeting in person. Somehow I’ve missed the zoom links for the past sessions. I’d also be happy to host a potluck in my backyard for the TNC as the weather warms up!

Thanks!
Rachael

I will bring this up at the meeting as well but just wanted to share here as well -

I have been in touch with the folks at the Huron River Watershed Council about things I can do as the water steward since it is a relatively new position to me and one that was unfulfilled for a stretch of time previously. They have suggested a few different ways to improve water quality as well as water quality testing, and a dock was suggested as a great way to access further out into the water, as well as a great way we could involve the thurston students to help with the water quality testing.

I am not aware of any dock available to the TNC? Please let me know if there is one that I am unaware of, or also if it would be possible to raise funds for a dock for the future. I’m imagining a floating dock that would easily be pulled back out and stored somewhere along the shoreline.

Thanks!
Rachael

Anything that is put in the ground on AAPS property would need AAPS approval and their contractors to do the work. The community would be unable to do it themselves in that scenario.
However, if it's placed on OHAC property and OHAC approved it, the community could more easily do something there, floating or otherwise.
In the past, we have done water testing off the berm and by the amphitheatre. Usually this was done as part of Earth Week or with specific grades or programs, like Green Team.

Nice!
Yes that’s great! Ideally the water test samples would be taken from further out in the water - hence the desire for a dock , but could also be gathered via kayak etc. but again that would be less accessible for school kids.

Lots of ideas!
