Subject: McKinney letter campaign notice for WSCH board

Hi Everyone!

We are asking all WSCH board members to participate in a letter-writing campaign to boost McKinney-Vento funding in 2011 (template attached).

Due to changes in the HEARTH Act, it is CRITICAL that the McKinney program receives a large boost in funding this year.  Without a funding level of at least $2.4 billion—a 28 percent increase over last year’s level—there will be little to no funding provided to your community for new projects in fiscal year (FY) 2011.

The attached template is a letter asking Senator Patty Murray to be a leader on this appropriation. On behalf of your community, please fax your letter ASAP (prior to February 22) and also encourage each your county’s McKinney grant recipients to do the same.  You can read more about this campaign by clicking here, but if your time is more limited, please just use the attached template (which includes the fax number just below the recipient address).

Please do fax the letters; mailed letters will be delayed due to security procedures. Special Thanks to Greg Winter for drafting the letter.  Let us know when you have acted so we can track our numbers.  I will be following up on with phone calls in the coming week.

Thanks!  Tera

Hi All-
I am fairly new to the list and believe this is my first email.  I saw this article today and thought I would pass it on.  Sorry for any cross postings.  It presents an innovative approach to finding matching funds for housing rehab projects and other related efforts. It seems like an approach that some of the communities in the county may be willing to consider.  Please let me know how I can help.

I sent an article about this to all the Olympia City Council last year.  I thought it was a great idea that called for particapation from the city, business and general community.  No answer but hey lets try it again:)
