For about a week when I check for mail I'm asked for my Yahoo
password. Sometimes, but not always I get the "bad vibes" message. I
upgraded the Yahoo Webmail add-on within the last few days, didn't
seem to make any difference. I've been running the Webmail add-on for
years, mostly without incident.

I'm running Yahoo beta, Thunderbird v. 2, XP sp3. There are no error
messages in the Thunderbird Error Console.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is really frustrating.
Thanks.

Me too.
Exactly as you describe it.
I have had many months of trouble free downloads of 2 Yahoo.com
accounts and now they both behave like this.
Previously the trouble seemed to be associated with this extensions
inability to cope with more than 750 old emails accumulated, and
everything resumed working when I moved them to an archive folder
using a webmail interface.
Yahoo beta setting
T'bird 2.0.0.2
MS Windows XP sp3
Malfunction intermittent

I uninstalled the "Get all mails" add-on as I thought it was to blame,
but no change.

Lately I've been getting "...negative vibes" errors after which I'm
asked for my password. If I enter the password and check "Have
Thunderbird remember this password" I get a clean logon for a while,
but eventually I get back to the "negative vibes" stuff. This just
happened and the following message appeared in the error console"

YahooPOPBETA.js: loginHandler : Exception : Error.
Error message: return status 500
180

It may be that Thunderbird is somehow "forgetting" the logon
information for the Yahoo account. Sometimes after a problem getting
Yahoo mail, when I check the passwords remembered in Thunderbird the
Yahoo (Local Host) login is missing. I hope you can make some sense
of this. If not I will try to clarify whatever you need. Thanks for
your help.

Try this but write all your passwords. Go to Tools, options. select
privacy tab, select edit saved passwords, select remove all. I was
having this problem and it was multiple password entries for the same
account.

Yahoo are randomly changing session ids during the login process, I'm
making changes to the code to handle this. In the mean time keep
trying the get messages button, the server will give you a good id
eventually.
