I am having two problems with gmail (version 0.7.0) Webmail version1.4.1
One problem is that I have to reinstall the Gmail add in every 2nd or so
time that Thunderbird starts.  It starts up with no mention of the gmail
add in in the add in manager and I have to reinstall.
Second problem is that I can't send any emails through the Gmail
system.  I receive them fine, but get error messages every time I try to
send.

There are a few errors and warnings that seem to be relevant (most of
them are about missing fonts and colours which don't seem relevant to this.
Error: mismatched tag. Expected: </meta>.

ANd these ones may be relevant or not I am not sure

If you are talking about the gmail install problem, I just found this in
the error console, which seems to explain part of it:

Warning: WARN addons.xpi: Add-on is invalid: Error: Directory
/home/martsv/.thunderbird/9aueaeuj.default/extensions/{860a7040-44a3-11da-8cd6-0800200c9a66}
does not contain a valid install manifest

Line: 710

Weird though, that Thunderbird would allow install of an addon that it
later detects as broken.

Same problem here with Lucid Lynx. Xpi installs then after second restart it is removed from the installed add-on list. Invalid manifest file in error error console. This a new install of TB5 the start.

After further testing, from that the add-on comes and goes during startup. It appears to be more of a problem with add-on portion of the Linux Thunderbird Program.
