OK Bill,
Yahoo web site set to "All New", I can't remember what Yahoo call it
exactly, but definitely not the "Classic", which Yahoo still makes you
go back to to set up filters and folders.
Yahoo Extension, Mode set to Beta, POP "mark mails as read on server",
Advanced "Use Short ID" and "Reuse HTTP session data".
Account Settings:
Account name, my email address. Thunderbird puts this in automatically
when setting up a new account, but it's only used internally by TB, it
can be anything you choose.
Server settings;
Type, POP
Server name, Localhost, default port 110. NB if you're using any form of
Linux you will need to change the port to something above 1024 and
change the port setting in the main webmail extension as well.
User name, your full Yahoo email address, as you would use for signing
into Yahoo.
Security settings, "Never" and don't tick the box for "Use secure
authentication"
Set the check for new messages to suit your needs, I check on start up
and every 10 minutes and automatically download new messages. If you
want messages to be left on Yahoo so you can access them from another
computer, check this option as well.
The outgoing server is Localhost, username is email address, No secure
connection, and port 25. As before, the port number will need to be
changed on Linux systems.
Just one other point, Yahoo are doing something with the website that
causes the extension's log-in to occasionally fail. If this happens,
tick the "remember password" box and try again. Nine times out of ten
this will work, I had a failed log-in message when starting TB this
morning, the second attempt worked.
