Hi,
First of all, thanks for all the efforts for Webmail Extension. I'm
trying to connect to my company outlook from thunderbird 3.1 via web
access and i've followed the instructions on
http://peterkao.com/2008/08/21/howto-configure-microsoft-exchange-and-outlook-web-access-for-thunderbird/
to install the owa add-on. But after installing, it shows the message
"Requires additional items" and i can't proceed further.

Any suggestions on how to solve the problem? Many thanks in advance...

I'm sorry' i've posted my problem in multiple threads, hope at least
one would be noticed...:)

Regards

If this is your first webmail extension installation, Did you install
the webmail main extension? If not it needs to be installed first and
then the OWA extension with a restart of TB after each installation.

Hi,

Thanks for your email and suggestion. i've installed webmail 1.3.8 and
created the account. i've used 'localhost' as the server and
my.e...@company.com as user name. When i tried to read mails, the
following error message is displayed.

Sending of password did not succeeded. Mail server localhost
responded:negative vibes from my.e...@company.com

the connection security is none and password sent insecurely.

OWA settings:

Accounts: screen ripper
login: use domain in login request: unchecked

domain: company.com
Uri: http://mail.company.com/exchange

with normal outlook web access through browser, i've to put my domain
name and pass to login to outlook.

I've tried changing the server to the original mail server url
http://mail.company.com and user name to my domain username (arifbd,
this is not my email) but then the following error message is
displayed could not connect to mail.company.com; the connection was
refused

I also tried changing to davmail from the addons settings, but same
result

My company is using exchange 2007 and the connection method is POP.

Any suggestion, please?

Thanks
Arif

Another thought...

How are logging into your owa account via the web.

Are you using domain\username then the password or is it some other
format?

If it is domain\username then your need enter your username in Tb OWA
as domain\username@domain and leave use domain in login unchecked. The
extension will then drop the @domain part.

If you login as username@domain then you need use domain in login
checked. The extension will then use the @domain part.

Depending how you are logging in you maybe able to use regular pop3
account unless your firewall is preventing access.

On the WebDAV mode most likely would need to use the Screen Ripper
instead as Microsoft has discontinue the use of WebDAV in most of
their products.

Thanks for your suggestion.

When i'm using mail.company.com/exchange as the url, a small box
appears to put my username and password. then i'm using just my
username given by the system admin, it is not the first part of my
email address.
When i use https://post.company.com/exchange, then i can see the
microsoft exchange webmail window, I'm using domain\username to login.

I've heard from my system admin that there's a front end server that
authenticates all requests in the domain and then forwards.
i also tried changing the servername from localhost to
mail.company.com but this time the error was "Couldn't connect to
mail.company.com, the connection was refused"

Any suggestions?
